OldManGravz 1,676 5.6k
Middlesbrough v Bristol City The Riverside Stadium - Saturday 10 February - 3pm The Form It felt more like 2 points lost than one point gained as Boro drew 1-1 with Sunderland. A superb finish by Forss was cancelled out by substitute Nazariy Rusyn's goal followig a swift counter attack after a triple change by Boro had allowed the momentum to shift. Both sides missed clear cut chances to win the game, with new signing Finn Azaz failing to hit the target after the Sunderland keeper parried the ball directly into his path. The result left Boro in 12th place, 4 points off the playoffs, although with a game in hand on the teams between us and sixth. Bristol City play Forest tonight in an FA Cup replay, meaning they will be more tired than us as we will have a full weeks rest. Their last game in the Championship was a 1-0 defeat at home to Leeds, with Gnonto scoring the only goal of the game just after half time with an assist from former Boro man Bamford. O'Leary had a great game between the sticks for Bristol, so let's hope he used all his luck on that game and has a howler against us. Bristol are currently 2 places below Boro with a gap of 3 points between us, although they have played a game more than us. Their top scorer this season is Conway, who has 8 goals in 26 games so far this campaign. The Lineup After what seems like the worst injury crisis in our recent history, we are finally able to put out a full first XI and subs without any youth players in the team! Silvera and McGree have also returned from their Asian Cup exploits, although McGree was a bit more tired on Saturday so was left out. We will hopefully see him this week. We're still waiting on Dieng, Jones and Lath to come back, and Coburn is clearly playing injured, but we can hopefully put together a decent run of form at the end of the season to sneak into the playoffs. Smith and Lenihan are obviously still long term absentees. I'm hoping we see something like the below: The View From The Otherside Their attentions are understandably still focussed on the Forest game at present but I'll update this when something shows up: https://www.otib.co.uk/topic/224064-middlesbrough-away-match-thread/ Topics for discussion 1) Score and lineup predictions? 2) Where do you think we will finish in the league? 3) After Keiron Scott's interview, are you expecting any free transfer signings? Who would you recommend? 4) Who are the best and worst people to come from Bristol? 3

Regarding the line up: Glover Ayling Fry RVB Engel Howson Hackney Forss Azaz McGree Greenwood 2) 10th 3) No, I doubt any money will be spent until the summer and on things more permanent 4) So many of the best to choose from, Cary Grant, Brunel and my personal favourite Miranda Richardson. The worst has to be the slave trader Colston who has streets and buildings named after him.
Hammy legend 919 943
I would agree with your lineup but Hackney instead of Barlaser, 1-0 Boro. Going to say 6th place finish. Would have liked a striker signed in January, but hoping Latte Lath not far away and don't know any decent free agent strikers. The best thing from Bristol were the Brilliant Corners. (Although we got Archie from Rovers but he was a scouser)

RiseAgainst 4,084 3.5k
1) Score and lineup predictions? I predicted a score draw against Sunderland, and I foresee the same result against the Robins. Yes, they'll be tired, but we're effectively trying to rebuild our team with new players in every week, and it takes time for everyone to get on the same wavelength. 2) Where do you think we will finish in the league? Probably 12th. We'll technically be a top-half team, but in reality we'll be miles off the play-off pack. 3) After Keiron Scott's interview, are you expecting any free transfer signings? Who would you recommend? I think we will sign a striker, but more in hope than expectation. Coburn needs surgery and Lath is out for a while, so it's not fair to expect Forss to shoulder the burden; Greenwood still hasn't convinced me he deserves a place in the squad. 4) Who are the best and worst people to come from Bristol? I believe James May and Stephen Merchant are both from Bristol originally - two guys I'd love to go for a pint with. Going back a bit further (though only a bit further in May's case), Isambard Kingdom Brunel was a Bristolian. Can't say I have a strong antipathy to any of the city's residents, or either of their clubs.
Bosco's Tuft 1,053 1.1k
1) 3-1 Glover Ayling - Fry - RVB - Engel Barlaser - Hackney Forss - Crooks - Greenwood - McGree 2) 10th 3) None 4) Best Darth Vader (his body, not his voice). And by default the Green Cross Code Man (body & voice). But not the Jolly Green Giant (ho ho ho). Worst 2% of the world's remaining examples of Anthropodermic Bibliopegy (or the guy who put it together anyway). Not my kind of thing really. I prefer Kindle. I don't think too many of our injuries will be back and I have a nagging suspicion that McGree may not yet be capable of a full 90. Assuming that Forss and Greenwood are ok to start I reckon there's a fair chance that we start with the same 11 as against Sunderland. 2. Start of the year I figured it would be between 6th-10th. Still feel the same though probably nearer 10th than 6th. 3. No unless Forss and Latte Lath both come down with season ending injuries in the next 2 weeks. 4. Darth Vader for both. Erimus74 3,595 3.7k
My favourite Boro v Bristol City stat Our 5th first team GK & record appearance holder Reginald Tim 'Tiny' Williamson, who between 1902-1923 not only made his debut against them but in 1910 become the only Boro keeper to score a first team goal when scoring our 3rd from the spot in a 3-0 home win, he later scored a second penalty against Liverpool
TLF10 4,928 6.6k
I would be putting Dieng back in. Not because of Glovers error as I would have been putting Dieng in as soon as he was fit. Glover has done v well in Dieng absence but Dieng is cleary the better keeper and our no.1 so if he ready to return he would start for me. And hopefully he is ready as he will have had 10-14 days of training by time Saturday comes round. Othee than that I would line up as @OldManGravz has team set up. Or have the front 4 as McGree Greenwood Azaz Forss

TLF10 4,928 6.6k
MC said at last weeks presser on Friday Dieng had returned to training “just these last few days” so i was basing it on that comment he will be ok for Bristol after a further week of training.
Erimus74 3,595 3.7k
1) Score and lineup predictions? Once upon a time we had an excellent home record against Bristol City then that changed when moving to the Riverside, at Ayresome Park Andy Payton must have recorded the quickest debut goal when scoring after 3 minutes back in 1991, Team line up, whoever is available 2) Where do you think we will finish in the league? 8th, 9th 3) After Keiron Scott's interview, are you expecting any free transfer signings? Who would you recommend? No, we wont find any player that fits our style, we'll just go with what we have & will wait for the summer to hopefully recruit a striker 4) Who are the best and worst people to come from Bristol? Apart from Hammys excellent answer, I'll go for Phil Kite who was born in Bristol & was our 6th loanee & 4th loanee GK
LinoJo3 3,896 11.2k
Get McGree in at #10. Our best forward by far so should be in the most influential position. Either that or put him on the right, Forrs up front and greenwood at #10.
