13/2/1960 Brian Clough scored his 9th Boro hat trick, the clubs 71st at Ayresome Park, 75th on Teesside & 93rd in total against City in a 6-3

4/3/1995 Uwe Fuchs scored his only Boro hat trick, the 93rd & final hat trick ay Ayrseome Park, 97th on Teesside & 132nd in total when beating City 3-0

It was my dear dads 60th & my beautiful daughters 2nd birthdays

Carrick does sometimes come out with nonsense like this tbh.  Hackney isn't a number 10, and he's not a left sided player either.  Need to get the squad sorted out properly in the summer.

Carrick is publicly being supportive of his players. As he should be. It doesn’t mean that he actually agrees with whatever situation occurs. I find it hard to believe that this is not obvious to everyone 🤷‍♂️

If it's obvious to everyone then it's also obvious to the player.  Nonsense is nonsense regardless of the motives.

Do you know what the question was to lead to the answer? If he was asked "how do you think Hackney did in a more advanced role?" Do you think he should have criticised the performance or say he did well considering?

You can answer it in all sorts of ways without telling an outright lie.  Flip it around for a moment, do you think Hackney believes he played well last weekend?  I'm betting he doesn't.  I think most players know whether they've played well or not.  I get it at the moment as everything Carrick says is treated like gold dust but sometimes it's just nonsense, and I'm sure he knows that as well.  I find it to be quite a funny thing in a way, the manager knows it's not true, the player himself knows it's not true, and the fans know it's not true, but he says it anyway, and then people will try and find reasons to justify the comments.  Problem is that it only works if everyone acts dumb about it.  It's ok to say Carrick might be wrong about things sometimes, it won't make him a worse manager or owt.

Wild how you've never managed us when you'd clearly be the best manager we could possibly ever have.

The question was asking how selling Matt Crooks would impact the attacking options in the squad.

He brought up Hackney and what he thought of his performance himself.
