Im only just noticing what glover was doing for the second goal. Wtf is that? He's dived well after the deflection, even though he's a mile from getting it. And by leaving his feet he's left it impossible to get to the rebound.

Damn that is pretty wtf. I’m not sure if he’d have stopped the goal if he didn’t dive like. Hard to tell if he could have just caught the ball or still had to face the forward if he got there first.

It was in the air for a decent amount of time, if he hadn't dived I think he would have been able to get into a position to make a block.

That goes down as another goal costing error to me tbh.

Hugely worried that Hackney will miss Saturday. It was a bad knock he took. Fry injury doesn't sound like a quick one to recover from either. I would not be surprised to see this line up on Saturday

Dieng

Engel

Clarke

VDB

Dijksteel

Howson

O'Brien

McGree

Azaz

Forss

Lath

Was ayling an injury? Because there's zero chance dijksteel gets a start after that cameo he isn't fit. In fact I think he doesn't get the start even if ayling is out, he'll play vdb there and bring back mcnair or fry imo.

In fairness to him, he's diving because of the original shot.  It looks bad because he's obviously tried to stop the dive as he realises the ball has been deflected.  I think it looks worse than it is.

I think he dives after the deflection. I think that's an attempt to stop the deflection but he's totally misjudged it

Just back from the match

What is after frustration as that is where I am!

Preston were terrible but if you give teams two goals start, you'll always struggle.

The play is so narrow it is unbelievable.  We are constantly trying to play through too many bodies.

Yea definately after the deflection. It’s a tough one because keepers do have to try and dive as early as possible, maybe he thought it was looping into the top corner or something. I’d still put this goal down to luck rather than keeper error, definately misjudged it though.

Agree. Blaming Glover for the second goal is harsh. 1st goal is his fault 100%.

Preston had 3 shots on target all from losing the ball in our own half.

If Carrick has nouse he'll abandon playing out against Leicester.

I hope I'm wrong but we might get tanked on Saturday.

I think Keane's effort is heading for his near post so I agree, he's diving for the deflection. I'm not sure he even sees a shot until he sees the deflection.

I don't know for sure but that angle makes it look like he could have judged it better from understanding his goal's boundaries. Keepers with good positioning tend to have a good idea about where the flight of the ball is taking it. Perhaps with it spooning up off a player he felt the spin on the ball might have moved it enough in the air to drop in but it's going miles wide.

Maybe Dieng would save it, maybe not. But I hope we don't have to wonder about the answer to that question from now on though.

Cant comment on the game with been at work & as I work 100% outside dodnt have the opportunity to listen to any of the game, but got to watched the highlights, think we've been unfortunate, not seen the penalty incident but the winning goal sums up, not only our present form but our season really, their player couldn't have placed the ball any better if he chose to pass to the goalscorer with no Boro players in between

To have a defender block the shot, the ball skims in the air, only to fall to the Preston player in the area who didn't have to adjust himself & ran onto the ball to score, typical of how we are performing of late
