Just back from the match

What is after frustration as that is where I am!

Preston were terrible but if you give teams two goals start, you'll always struggle.

The play is so narrow it is unbelievable.  We are constantly trying to play through too many bodies.

Are you sure you were there?

At no point did we give Preston a two goal start.

Or have you just gotten back from the Bristol City game?

Pretty clear that the team has had all its confidence knocked out of it. That kind of thing happens really quickly in football. It was hardly any time ago that we were beating Chelsea and almost holding Villa to a creditable draw followed by turning around an early goal at Millwall and winning 3-1. That was just 5 games ago.

At the moment we're having one of those times every manager goes through when everything he tries seems to make the team worse. What it reminds me of is the post-Christmas spell under Warnock in 20-21 where he just couldn't figure out how to integrate his new arrivals and the outside chance of a play-off place just drained away.

My concern about this season is that the aim was clearly to bring in a bunch of prospects and improve enough of them to lay the foundations of the next couple of seasons. So far, the only improved players seem to be Rogers and RVDB and we sold one of them. I'm pretty sure Azaz will turn out to be a good buy but of the rest of the prospects we brought in (Latte Lath, Greenwood, Silvera, Gilbert, Engel and Bangura) I'm hard-pressed to see any meaningful improvement in any of them. This is partly due to injuries - especially Latte Lath and Bangura - but you look at those 6 players and think if they're not here in a year's time, no one will notice the difference. You can say that Engel and Silvera have improved a bit from a very low standard while Latte Lath has shown glimpses. Bangura and Gilbert simply haven't played while Greenwood has played a lot and we're still no closer to figuring out what his best position is, if any.

Being positive, this kind of slump can shake out the weak links in a team. You learn a lot more about players when they're losing than when they're winning.

Even if we beat Leicester 5-0 on Saturday, I still think our season is over realistically. We just aren't good enough to finish in the top 6, and not signing players to change that in January has resigned us to this fate.

We can be good enough we’ve had some good performances but the problem is consistency. We’ve never really put a long run together and therein lies our problem this season. Doesn’t mean we won’t go on a winning streak for the rest of the season but the evidence doesn’t suggest it.

It's hard to admit that we are all following a week, tepid team and having to accept defeat after defeat with no sign of a win coming soon.

Thank goodness for our mini run earlier on because we are relegation form at the moment and this is a far cry from what we expected from  Carrick team.

Remember the days of Carricks Crusaders now it's Carricks walking wounded.

Anyway time for another peek at last nights episode of our sorry saga!

Pity no player there to assist Thomas cross shot

i blame the match day thread creators

we defs are just one of the rest of the championship teams, which means unpredictable results for and against constantly, good runs, bad runs, and you need a lot of luck to get in play offs and then even more to convert that chance to go up

Hard to say the cause is down to just one player, but ever since Hugill injured Jones our form has taken a massive nose dive.

Jones can often frustrate but there's still plenty of supporters who don't appreciate the difference he makes to our side.

OK I get your point but we gave them two goals so needed 3 to win.

I have my Leciester tickets but seriously considering saving the petrol money.

Im only just noticing what glover was doing for the second goal. Wtf is that? He's dived well after the deflection, even though he's a mile from getting it. And by leaving his feet he's left it impossible to get to the rebound.

I think the ball took a wicked deflection off VDB's (I think) heel and spun up and rather than a normal trajectory there was a type of back spin on it which fooled Glover. Keep in mind Glover's angle is a lot lower and therefore his view would have been totally different to the video. That two Preston players dragged our defence wide right and then Thomas didn't pick Riis up and allowed him to run in to score unchallenged is where the bigger blame lies to me. Had Engel been playing he would have been roasted over that.

Overall it's just typical of a totally dysfunctional defensive unit that we have been witnessing now for a very long time and it's not just a problem last night.

Problem for me is quality ie  the lack of it.  Lots of endeavour but lacking in quality in every area.  Far too frenetic last night often reminding me of pinball.

Looking back on last night, I am not even annoyed. While you might think that is a good thing, it is more that I just don't care about this season anymore. When anger gives way to apathy something is seriously wrong.

Have you got your £510+ ready?

They've reduced the deadline to one week.

If Coburn needs an Operation to sort his groin/hernia then get it done now.

Theres no point having a bit part player who can’t contribute properly - mainly because it’s not fair on him.

Get him fit for next season.

I know it leaves us even worse off up front but who cares.
