It really irrationally irritates me when Drury incorrectly commentate small moments in games. Regularly through a match he'll say a player has lost the ball despite the pass never making it to them, call tackles interceptions (or vice versa), say a player has lost control of the ball when he was never going to get close to it, etc.

Happens multiple times per game and I can't abide it!

Dury's commentary has annoyed me for ages. It's his pattern of speech. It's just not right for the job. He also has a touch of Partridge about him.

100% agree with this, he has no football sense, you can see a pass is well wide of the mark and he will call it as the player it was intended for is at fault, he does this quite often, If you are just listening to just the radio he doesn’t give a good assessment of the game.

I don't know if I'd be changing everything on the back of what was a lucky win at the end of the day.  It's not like we were defensively rock solid.  Leicester should have been a couple of goals up before we scored our first.  That they missed good chances isn't down to our play, it's down to their poor play, just as when we miss good chances it's not because the opposition have somehow done a number on us, it's because we messed them up.  This today was basically us v Rotherham but Leicester had the part of us, and we took the part of Rotherham.  Sometimes it ends up working out but usually it doesn't, and people would do well to remember that.  If you need another example then look at the two games we played against Chelsea where we defended really well in one game but even then should have lost by a couple but then in the second game we got obliterated, and the same players, and system, which looked the part in the first game, couldn't cope at all.  I hope all of that doesn't appear to be too negative as it's meant to be no worse than a dash of realism.

I think its harsh to call it a "lucky" win.

Yes Leicester created plenty of chances (as expected) and fluffed a couple of really good ones.

But despite that, it felt to me that Boro were actually more composed in defence, were usually able to get back into position quicker and didn't leave players unmarked like we usually do.

True we needed a bit of last-ditch defending at times, particularly after Vardy scored, but thats to be expected against a team with their record.

In a nutshell, I didn't find myself thinking "WTF are we playing at?" as often as usual.

On top of that, our attacking play seemed a bit more co-ordinated. Whether that was the formation, the players selected, or Leicester just giving us a bit more time & space, I don't know.

Not lucky at all

We deserved that win, every game in every league teams will say they were lucky, unlucky based on chances etc, if every team who had chances during games converted them we'd be seeing scorelines ten six or five four, etc, etc on a regular basis

No, as a team we thoroughly deserved that win, no luck at all

Watched the game on a Leicester stream yesterday. Their commentary team was insightful, fairly balanced but obviously siding more towards Leicester. Provided info about Boro’s pattern of play and tactic. Far better than BBC Tees.

It beats Maddos analysis of “he’s a footballer him” and Drury getting over excited at the opposition scoring or what shade of jacket Carrick has got on.

Long overdue change needed.

Agree, yea you can get lucky that chances don’t go in against you but Leicester were also lucky we could have got a couple more.. one where McGree was through one and one with a race with the keeper springs to mind.

the way I always look at the game is at the end I was thinking if they get an equaliser here would a draw be a fair result. I didn’t think so. Think we worked hard and played well enough to deserve the win.

I missed all the post match, did anything get said about the severity of the new injuries?

Asked for an injury update after, Carrick said: “We’re waiting to see on both Hayden and Jonny, but it doesn’t look great, if I’m honest. They’ve both had scans and we’re waiting on them being assessed. Both of them twisted their knees in two tackles in the last five minutes at Preston."

"It’s one of them where you kind of half smile about it because there’s another one where there is not much you can do about it. It kind of sums it up for us lately. I don’t want to lose the lads at all, but what can you do? Hopefully we can get them back sooner but we’ll have to wait and see how long."

Might just be me but I prefer my commentary with a full dose of rose tint. Better than the likes of Goodman et al when we are on Sky.

I always find he gives me reasons to be cheerful 🙂
