Maybe Jones is just absolutely awful and is still worse then a semi fit Dieng

But if the issue is your concern about him not being up to it then he shouldn't be on the bench either.  If we've actually signed a goalkeeper that we refuse point blank to play, or even have on the bench if anyone else is even semi fit, that's not a good piece of business really.

Do you honestly think anyone at the club is aiming for us to be a mid-table Championship club? I don't.

Gibson is spending £10-£15m a year just to keep us afloat. Everyone I see at the club is ambitious to get us into the Premier league.

Since the failed Monk boom, we have tried just about every idea possible to get promoted. They have all failed and now we are trying, again, to build a push for promotion that we can sustain for as long as it takes without ripping it up every time and starting again.

Sure, you can point to a lot of bad decision making, most of it starting at the top with Gibson. What I don't see is a lack of ambition.

As for a "fair reward" there is no such thing in football. Anything else is entitlement.

As for the comparison with Charlie Amer, that's ridiculous.

It’s not what I inferred. I was questioning given the size of our town, where as in achieving, should we expect to be. As in, would mid table in the championship be considered a bench mark as business as usual and above exceeding expectations. It’s a genuine question.

the "if we had a striker" argument doesnt hold much water when it wasn't our no.9 on the night missing chances

As I mentioned, I didn't watch the game, only going on what I heard that we were the better team had chances, failed to create them & paid the penalty

I’d be playing a 5-3-2

keep it solid at the back with VDB, Fry, Clarke, Ayling and Engel. Have a two of Howson and Hackney with McGree being the one to kind of break free and join a front two of Greenwood and Forss

Obviously with a keeper too 😂

If Dieng just has a Hernia for example then he will be deemed fit to play with a small procedure (Duck tape) sorting him out. He's probably just sat on the bench so we can save on the Duck tape expense for the Summer spending binge.

The team according to a poster on FMTTM.

Hoping it's wrong.

Carrick has lost his *** mind if Glover is still starting ahead of a fit Dieng.

At the risk of getting all conspiracy theorist about it, this feels like a false leak to try and determine who is leaking. If not, it's catastrophic. Hackney, Forss and possibly Fry injured. Howson incapable of starting two games in a week. None of our other injuries returning. Ayling is no wingback. Silvera is not a centre forward by any stretch of the imagination.

Imagine having an actual striker might mean the number 9 actually had some chances.

Could be cynical but no presser for Leicester with external press asking questions.....

Something has definitely gone on!

Hackney and Howson went off injured on Wednesday.

Fry already injured to begin with.

Coburn's situation sounded bad from the Echo.

Forss is the only surprise for me.

That was already the plan before the Preston match, judging off Rob's comments from FMTTM.

He'd said that the Leicester conference was going to be straight after the match and he wasn't going to make it because he would still have been in the stands.

That was said a few times when wilder was on his last legs and we precorded a few post match interviews . ...

I really hope this isn't a sign of Carrick going

If there is signs of him going then I think that reflects badly on him tbh, yes our recruitment hasn’t been good, but we’ve also had shocking luck with injuries that is nobody’s fault.

At the end of the day we still have a team that is more than capable of being at least around the play offs. Plus once Lath is back we have a pretty solid team to hopefully finish the season with.

Provided people in the club haven’t been pressuring him about why we aren’t in the play offs which I doubt has happened, the only reason for him to leave is of his own making.

Scott has said in every interview that he sits down with Carrick regularly and discusses transfers and plans etc, so unless they’ve fobbed him off I’m guessing he knew fine well the plans for last summer and January. Plus the fact that he’s stuck with Greenwood up front would make me guess he was fine with not bringing in just any striker and happy to go with what we had.

Despite the recruitment and holes in the team can he honestly say he’s done the best with what he’s had to work with? I wouldn’t say so, the club may not have been perfect but neither has he. The Hackney at #10 experiment being a perfect example, not to mention the Rotherham games and that awful start to the season.
