Well, I didn’t see that coming!

Carrick’s confounding crew ™ continue their weird season after completing the double over the soon-to-be champions Leicester. Boro, eh? Only our rabble could find a way to take 6 points off the league leaders and also fail to beat relegation fodder (Rotherham). God they’re annoying! Anyway, onto this week…..

Middlesbrough V Plymouth

Saturday 24th February 2024 3pm

Riverside Stadium

We welcome Plymouth to the Riverside on Saturday, who have had a difficult run following the appointment of their new manager. Winless in their last 5 games in all competitions (losing 4), Plymouth also have a dismal away record, winning just once away from home all season. Should be an easy win for us then after sweeping aside mighty Leicester, right? RIGHT?!?!

Here’s the highlights from the reverse fixture, a thrilling 3-3 draw. Cor, that Finn Azaz looks a good player in this vid! Wonder what happened to him?

Important questions 2

After you all survived the animal area last week, I’ve got some more hypothetical questions for you to tackle. Here goes:

A supernatural being says they are sending you back to 1980. You can’t come back to the present. You can bring 5 things with you. What would you bring?

There is a button that, when pressed, instantly kills a random person in the world but gives you £10,000. Pressing it again multiplies both numbers by 10. How many times are you willing to press the button?

You find a book and begin to read only to discover that it is your life. You get to the point that you are at now. Do you turn the page knowing that you will not be able to change the events to come?

Gordon Strachan, remember him,  Plymouth were our opponents for his Boro dug out debut

Just the one change for me from Leicester game for this one. Forss in for Clarke. Back to 4.2.3.1:

Glover

Ayling VDB Paddy Engel

Barlaser O'Brien

Forss Azaz McGree

Silveria

Hopefully LL back on the bench.

 Dieng

Ayling VDB Clarke Engel

Barlaser O'Brien

Forss Azaz McGree

If everyone is fit, a week to prepare, the win should have lifted the spirits, time to kick on.

Unless we continue with a back 5 and push Paddy into MF when in possession

Watching the Plymouth and Leicester highlights above, and it really is crazy how much fluctuation there's been in our team this season.

These games were just over three months apart and only three players started both.

he's not on loan from Plymouth so I'm saying yes

All of those questions absolutely terrify me. Even in this hellhole of a time, the idea of going back to a time before I was born with only 5 things I have? Yikes. Hell no I ain't killing nobody for no amount of money. And that book idea is also terrifying, I would hope its the only copy and burn it as soon as I recognised it was my life.

Also imagine knowing what's going to happen with the Boro for 44 years? Imagine having to relive Pulis?

1. The entire Berlin wall

2. A Mississippi Valley wolf

3. Pink Floyd “The Wall” Original Press

4. Spandex

5. Leg warmers

I've just realised i've done the question in reverse. I stand by my answers.

Sorry guys

I'll make a plan to watch the lottery that night, then turn the page.

sports almanac, might as well make a few bob, Proof of Blairs lies about WMD. Aids medicine, Let's nip it in the bud. smart phone, global warming evidence

Too risky, it may be you.

You'll get to see it soon enough

A supernatural being says they are sending you back to 1980. You can’t come back to the present. You can bring 5 things with you. What would you bring?

1. A contemporary sports almanac, so I can place loads of bets and make lots of money each year. I'd also buy a thousand Bitcoin in 2009.
2. The recipe for Odeon nacho cheese sauce - I'd be gutted if I had to wait decades to taste that oozy tangy goodness again.
3. A CD with some of my favourite modern songs on it, for similar reasons.
4. Some properly strong 21st century pornography, in place of all the hairy beavers and refrigerator repair men that proliferated on VHS and Betamax pornos in 1980 (I was one year old at the time, so this may not be an entirely accurate description).
5. My car. I wouldn't want to give up my head-up display, ventilated seats and surround-view cameras, but these features weren't available on Austin Metros and Ford Cortinas in 1980 (or ever), even as options. You were lucky if you got a clock. That worked.

There is a button that, when pressed, instantly kills a random person in the world but gives you £10,000. Pressing it again multiplies both numbers by 10. How many times are you willing to press the button?

None. If I could target a specific person (say Nicola Sturgeon), I'd pay £10,000, but the idea of some random in Venezuela or Bosnia dropping dead because I've just secured enough money for a week in Florida doesn't really appeal.

You find a book and begin to read only to discover that it is your life. You get to the point that you are at now. Do you turn the page knowing that you will not be able to change the events to come?

Probably not. Because imagine if it reads "in summer 2024, your life is forever tarnished when Michael Carrick leaves to manage Newcastle and Tony Pulis takes full charge of Middlesbrough on a ten-year owner-manager contract." I'd try to top myself, but I wouldn't be able to because I can't change the events to come, and then we'd be into Butterfly Effect territory where my mum's become my uncle and I have buttocks where my face used to be.

Plymouths last 5 games including the FA Cup against Leeds have seen the following results:

Lost to Leeds 4-1 (FA Cup)

Lost to Sunderland 3-1

Drew with Coventry 2-2

Lost to Leeds 2-0

Lost to WBA 3-0

Typical Boro tells me they are due a result sometime soon, let's hope we aren't overly generous on Saturday

Haha, as a Boro fan following our excellent performance last week at Leicester City & Plymouths recent 5 game run you can see the headlines next Saturday at 17:45 😔
