Denzel Zanzibar 7,314 14.3k
Stoke v Middlesbrough Bet365 Stadium Saturday 2nd March, KO: 15:00 Int: Middlesbrough FC Boardroom, Boro Towers Form table This will be a game between two terrible teams, clearly. Boro are slightly better on the road than at home, with our big win against Leicester, and Stoke's last win came at home against fellow strugglers QPR. Can the mighty Boro do it on a c̶o̶l̶d̶ mild T̶u̶e̶s̶d̶a̶y̶ Saturday ni̶g̶h̶t̶ afternoon in Stoke, though? What's that? The weather forecast? Oh. Stoke fans talking about the game here, they're less than optimistic. Anyway, the all important questions. 1. Will Carrick finally see sense and drop Glover? 2. How quickly will Dieng concede from us playing it out from the back if so? 3. Have you ever had an oatcake? 4. What's your favourite thing to come from Stoke? Oh and you can post predicted lineups and scores here too, whatever I'M NOT YOUR MUM 1
Downsouth 6,732 36.2k
One satisfying aspect is that we are away from home so a win or draw is entirely possible😑
TeaCider24 13,963 18.6k
1. Will Carrick finally see sense and drop Glover? You'd think he surely would now after yet another costly error, but I thought that last time too, so who knows. 2. How quickly will Dieng concede from us playing it out from the back if so? It'd be typical for Dieng to make an uncharacteristic massive mistake after the clamour to get him back in. 3. Have you ever had an oatcake? I have not, at last not the one they love. I only found out a few weeks ago that it's basically a pancake and not the hard Scottish oatcakes I've always seen. It suddenly made a lot more sense that it would be considered a delicacy, the Scottish oatcakes are awful. 4. What's your favourite thing to come from Stoke? Got to be Big Robbie. Neverbefore 12,323 26.6k
I think this game is very important, for Carrick more than anything. After last week's horror show there simply has to be a reaction. A performance on par with the Plymouth one will raise some serious questions in my mind. I can see the fans full on turning on him.
RiseAgainst 4,084 3.5k
Love the cartoon! 1. Will Carrick finally see sense and drop Glover? Probably not. Sense has been somewhat lacking of late in our team selections. I suspect there'll be at least two selections that will have us scratching our heads. 2. How quickly will Dieng concede from us playing it out from the back if so? N/A. 3. Have you ever had an oatcake? I have, but I'm not really a fan. If we're going down the oat route, I'd rather have a chocolate Hobnob. 4. What's your favourite thing to come from Stoke? I've travelled extensively around this septic isle, and I can honestly say Stoke is my least favourite place in England. Its only redeeming attribute is it's not Coatbridge in Scotland. My favourite thing to come from Stoke would therefore have to be the A50 that lets me and one of my mates get to Castle Donington every June for the Download Festival. Still leaves us with no defensive cover with that midfield duo, so expect the usual giant hole between defence and midfield to be exploited.
AnglianRed 6,495 15.8k
1. Will Carrick finally see sense and drop Glover? 2. How quickly will Dieng concede from us playing it out from the back if so? I predict within 4:32 of the first whistle...but it'll be the defence's fault for passing it to him in a dangerous situation. 3. Have you ever had an oatcake? Once...many years ago when staying at a hotel in Alsager, of all places (I was on a training course). 4. What's your favourite thing to come from Stoke? Um...crockery? Thats pretty useful I suppose. Oh and you can post predicted lineups and scores here too, whatever I'M NOT YOUR MUM I've given up trying to predict Carrick's lineups, so I'll just post how I'd like to see us start. I know this isn't how we lined up against Leicester, but its the nearest I cold get with the formations available. In any case having 2 up front would be a novelty... Really can't decide on this one. Neither team is exactly in good form right now. The main thing that gives me hope is that we are better away from home. If we do end up losing, blame me for my prediction: Stoke 1 - 2 Middlesbrough. Got 0-0 written all over it this one. Think Dieng will be back. Silvera up top (Lath if fit).. Forrs on the right. Never heard of Oatcake. So probably not had. Favorite thing from Stoke? Maybe the bit part in green street hooligans at the service station. (Not sure if that counts).
SouthernSmoggie 4,447 6.2k
Big game for us. Lose and things will be as toxic as they've been under Carrick. Being away seems to suit us, so there's that I guess. Anyone could start, don't why we even bother trying to predict it. For what it's worth, I'd go: Dieng Dijksteel - VDB - Clarke - Engel Barlaser - O'Brien Forss - Azaz - McGree Lath
Bruce 1,955 1.7k
I guess Carrick will go one of two ways. He could be determined that his system works. To be fair, our away record is very good. Or he could decide that he needs to change the system. I'm guessing the former. In that case, assuming that Dieng either is off the naughty step or never was on itm, I reckon it will be Dieng Ayling - McNair - Clarke - Thomas Barlaser - O'Brien Forss - Azaz - McGree Silvera This is assuming that Latte Lath isn't quite fit enough to start and Forss isn't allowed to play in the middle. I think we want to give Thomas a run of games to get match sharp to see if he is capable of recovering some form and/or Engel is carrying some sort of niggle that takes the edge off his performances.
Stitchy 139 85
1. Will Carrick finally see sense and drop Glover? When everything points to us going a certain way Carrick will no doubt not do it. I expect the man from down under to be between the sticks/in the back of his net. 2. How quickly will Dieng concede from us playing it out from the back if so? Within the first 20 mins. Our defence cannot hold on for longer than that. 3. Have you ever had an oatcake? Nope. And won't be having one this time either. 4. What's your favourite thing to come from Stoke? The ball from Rory Delap's throw in. Score 2-0 defeat. Team Glover Ayling McNair Clarke Engel Barlaser O'Brien Forss Azaz McGree Silvera I wasn't going to this game and bought my tickets the morning after Leicester. If I could get a refund and not travel I would do so.
TeaCider24 13,963 18.6k
Sounds like Latte Lath will still be on the bench. Howson should be back in the next few weeks. Very vague about the rest.
LinoJo3 3,893 11.2k
I’d be interested to see what changes he makes, even just positionally as you’d imagine that would tell us what mistakes he thinks he made last week that cost us, plus I do think Dieng comes back in. Would it be worth doing a 3 at the back again? We’re away from home, Schumacher likes to play attacking football so they probably won’t sit back plus with Lath back and Silvera we’d have a bit of pace to get in behind. Not sure I’d want to sacrifice any of Azaz, McGree or Forrs though for the extra defender.
