14th October 1978 -  My 18th birthday

Boro 2 Norwich City 0

David Armstrong & a Martin Peters OG

Terry Cochranes Boro debut on our first home win of the season

The final game we played before the 1998 League Cup final was a home game against Norwich if I remember rightly.  Won 3-0, and Beck scored the third goal when a shot hit him and went in, and he ran around celebrating like it was a great goal  😀  I think to be fair at that point he was feeling pushed out as we'd signed Armstrong, Branca, and Ricard, and Beck was not playing so much.  Must have been around this time of year as well.

can we play a team without barlaser engel, thomas and ayling in it?

fullback and cm are weirdly our weakest positions, even though we only have 1 striker and no wingers lolz.

mad our squad, its shocking. thinking about how light we are in the creativity/attacking areas . we have jones(injured) who is the closest we have to a winger. sammy is more an inside forward.

we signed azaz who is a no10 but we already had mcgree who could play there. why the hell didnt we sign another winger and striker in the jan window? now jones is out we play a cf on the wing because we dont have a winger but play a crappy attacking mid as cf because we didnt have a cf because we played him on the wing.

the summer window looks worse as each week passes.

anyway back on topic, norwich will pump us 4-0. barlaser and ayling with the 4 assists.

James Phillips just doesn't sound right 🙂

It does, doesnt it, now changed, I liked Jimmy Phillips

Incidentally his debut was a 3-0 home defeat to Blackburn, he seen plenty of goals in those two games,

How excited are you for the game?

Not really excited TBH, I'll park my car in my usual spot then walk to the ground expecting to see our usual boring football, with Norwich getting a couple of early chances & repeat, the crowd will become toxic & heads will drop. Its such a vital game fir Carrick & Woodgate, I really think the state of the club is at the same point when Wilder left & Leo took charge

What would your team and formation be?

Dont know, but I dont want to see Thomas, Silvera, Greenwood, Ayling in the starting line up, yes I know with so many players unavailable that aint gunna happen

How long does Carrick have left?

I still think more fans are with him than not but each Plymouth, Stoke performance the against him grows & Gibbo looks on thinking enough is enough, probably 2, 3 games if it goes badly wrong

I hope that 6th March 2024 has some significant meaning..... 🤞🏼

The PM might call a general election - we might get some money off NI announced in the Budget - but if you're hoping for a Boro win, I think we're all out of luck. It might as well be Friday the 13th and Carrick runs over a black cat on the way to the match for all the chance we have of winning.

Hard  to see anything but another hard game for boro which I don’t think we can win. My confidence in this team and manager is even lower than the abysmal start of the season I have trouble seeing how they can change it around. We just look lost.
