BORO v Norwich 3-1 (Forss, Latte Lath, Engel)

Recommended Posts

Was at the game last night and share the thoughts of the people here. We looked out of it until they had a man sent off.

One thing that stood out to me (before the sending off) was the sheer lack of confidence the majority of our lads had. It seems like they didn't want to show for the ball and would rather play it safe. Norwich sensed this, pressed us really well and looked like they were going to cruise the game. Contrast this to the same defensive system employed against Villa and Chelsea at home where we looked really solid.

After the man being sent off and we got our goal, you could see a change in the body language and confidence.

Hopefully this win has taken the pressure off a bit and we can push on from here.

Was really impressed with McGree last night. Not sure about his situation but hope we can keep him here for next season.

That is the most poetic thing i have seen on here for a long time 😎

Probably a bit premature as well. One swallow, as they say, does not a Summer make...

If we at least get a point at QPR, then maybe our journey to sunnier climes may have begun.

But we are Smoggies after all...comfortable in the darkness and gloom. 😁

Howson showed his experience to win that red card. If it'd been a barlaser on, he wouldn't have gone in that hard and caused a reaction. Won us the game that piece of grit.

Reminiscent of Souness/Pogba that. Can we give Barlaser a break from imaginary certainties

I really don't think relegation was ever a serious threat.  We were always likely to win at a game or two at the very least between now and the end of the season.  I can't see everyone below us going on fantastic runs at the same time even if we helped them along a bit.

I don't think it was likely but i also don't think it was as far away as we think. We were in a real hole and it didn't look like we had a clue how to get out of it we weren't really close to winning games and 6 points doesnt require a fantastic run. Very easy to get dragged into it even if realistically we would've been fine.

Agree, thats how I looked at it, dragged into a scrappy finale without the fear of actually falling into the bottom 3

Winning has given us a bit of a breather & the world, for me anyway, looks a lot brighter, considering we were in a rut & not looking to get out of it

I think if we can win our game in hand against Brum then things will look a lot rosier. We've been waiting for that one for a few weeks now. This time next week we should have a better view of things.

Not you as well buddy Boro and games in hand never seem to mix in a positive way

Pleased for the lads last. Fortune was on their side and they had the opportunity to play without pressure. I'm sure they enjoyed the latter stages hunting individually for goals. Hope we stick with the formation of 3 at the back and concentrating on sharpening up our counter attacking style until we're in a position to transition to what I think Carrick and the club want to achieve which is high possession based tactic.

Sometimes a win is all you need though, however you get it. Confidence has a massive part to play.

We got our first win of the season against Southampton after only getting 1 point in the 7 games before that.

We didn't play well in the first half against Southampton and should have been 2 or 3 down before we equalised.

That unconvincing win was a catalyst for a winning streak.

Yes, I know we recently beat Leicester and it made no difference, but I haven't got all the answers. It's football for god's sake. Anything can happen.

Oh yeah, I know that mate.  We could win the rest of our games 5-0, and end up promoted this season.  I suppose I'm looking at likelihoods though, and what we saw in the first 30 mins didn't seem to show that we'd finally cracked things.  To put it another way, how happy do you think the coaches will have been with it?  I don't reckon they'll be doing all that much celebrating because I don't believe what we were attempting to do was working at all.
