marvin 301 694
In the absence of a picture I've asked ChatGPT to paint a picture of the game for your eyes: FIRST HALF: The match would unfold with intensity and excitement, showcasing the skill and determination of both sides. As the game kicks off, both teams would look to assert their dominance early on, with QPR aiming to utilize their attacking prowess while Middlesbrough focuses on their organized defense and counter-attacking strategy. Throughout the match, there would be moments of flair and brilliance from individual players on both sides, as they strive to make an impact and create scoring opportunities for their team. The midfield battle would be particularly fierce, with players from both teams fighting for possession and control of the game. As the game progresses, tension would mount with each passing minute, as both teams desperately seek to break the deadlock and take the lead. The crowd would be on the edge of their seats, roaring with every chance and near-miss. WHO: Cifuentes' Hoops v Carrick's Hopefuls WHAT: another opportunity for the football gods to smile on the boro! WHERE: Loftus* Road (*not the one near Redcar) WHEN: 15:00 9th March 2024 WHY: Playoff dream back on... Part 1: Well well well well well, who’d a thunk it. We only went and beat them Canaries. We even beat them when they had 10 men, and we all know, it’s harder to play against 10 men so we should probably have got more points than just the three. To be honest, when Norwich had 11 players, the game was looking too much for us, so it was a big surprise what happened next. I thought that it was game over when Borja Sainz tried to end Howson’s career with that dreadful tackle, and was subsequently given his marching orders. But a mere 7 minutes later Marcus Forss showed us all why he's best out on the right wing, when he was perfectly placed to hammer in the equaliser. The 6 minutes later - WHAT THE HECK? Latte Lath finished a sublime cross from the wand of a left foot and the end of Matt Clarke's left leg. Not to mention Engel's banger just after the hour mark! Some may say that the sending off was a little harsh, others might just be grateful that the football gods were on our side for a change. Norwich did not play like a team reduced in numbers determined to defend their lead. It was as if they thought it better to go out with a whimper rather than batton down the hatches. Playing a Middlesbrough team that has very recently looked devoid of confidence and ideas, even going down to 10 men, it would not have been a surprise to see us fail to take advantage of the extra man. Part 2: Saturday sees 12th place Boro travel to the capital city to face 19th place QPR. We are 8 points above QPR (and 10 points of the playoff places.) QPR seem to be in better recent form than ourselves with 4 wins out of the last 5. Their most recent game being a dramatic 2-2 draw with WBA, a game which they probably should've won according to some. Click >here< to read for yourself the thoughts of the QPR fans. Part 3: At the top we had ChatGPT's version of the first half, here's the rest of the game... SECOND HALF: The intensity would only heighten as fatigue sets in and substitutions are made to inject fresh energy into the game. Both teams would throw caution to the wind, pushing forward in search of that crucial goal that could tilt the balance in their favor. As the final whistle approaches, the game would reach a crescendo with end-to-end action and heart-stopping moments. In the dying minutes, a decisive breakthrough could occur, with one team seizing the opportunity to snatch victory from their opponents' grasp. Ultimately, the outcome of the match could hinge on a moment of brilliance, a defensive error, or a stroke of luck. Whether it ends in a thrilling victory, a hard-fought draw, or a bitter defeat, a game between QPR and Middlesbrough FC would undoubtedly be a spectacle to behold, leaving fans on the edge of their seats until the very end. Summary: The game v Norwich will hopefully not be another false dawn. There was enough in that game to suggest that the confidence was returning and it could be the start of another winning streak, but this season, the only thing I'm confident about is that I genuinely have no clue what will happen in a game. I'm always optimistic, but have learned over the years to temper that optimism with my late Grandad's favourite Boro phrase "They always let you down!" That being said, I've not feel let down this season. Our injuries have been ridiculous! Questions: How exciting was it to have Isiah Jones back, even of it was just on the bench? Predicted starting line up? How many will we win by? Who is your favourite footballing person to have represented both clubs?
RiseAgainst 4,084 3.5k
"Middlesbrough focuses on their organized defense and counter-attacking strategy." You can tell this was written by an algorithm, can't you? Either that, or an intern at Football Insider. How exciting was it to have Isiah Jones back, even of it was just on the bench? I can honestly say it wasn't very exciting because Hoppe has been on the bench and there was more chance of the bench itself getting a game than him. I hope Izzy is back soon because we don't really have an alternative, but we've seen some truly dreadful performances from him on occasion, so having him back in the squad doesn't automatically mean great things will follow. Predicted starting line up? [shrug] How many will we win by? We won't. I predict an attritional draw. Who is your favourite footballing person to have represented both clubs? Has to be Albert Adomah.
Erimus74 3,595 3.7k
January 1982- We were the 1st team to score an FAC goal on QPR's artificial pitch when Bobby Thomson scored from the penalty spot to put us 1-0 up, QPR equalised late in the game with a replay at Ayresome Park
Downsouth 6,740 36.2k
Big game and I hope the players decide that hey will not allow QPR to do a double over us! Our form against those teams in the danger area has been rank to say the least Going to be a good game for the neutral as I can see a far few goals being scored so a 0-0 draw not on the cards (qoute me later on this)
TLF10 4,928 6.6k
Our recent record at Loftus Road is on par with our record this season against the lesser teams so a draw would not be worst result. I would be tempted to go with the same 11. Did not work v well for first 30 mins at home v Norwich but feel it could be more effective here. Also given they have some serious height in they team, they will be dangerous at set pieces so might need our 3 CBs for the arial threat they pose.
Redcar Rioja 6,776 6.6k
We have little to lose now except the game itself so Carrick may as well go for it and see just what the squad can do without fear.

I seem to remember Bobby rising like a salmon at the far post to head it in. I think he missed a penalty in the replay, and maybe scored one as well. Denzel Zanzibar 7,315 14.3k
Think i'd be happy with a draw but come on, we should be beating QPR despite their better form. They are where they are in the table for a reason.

It will be tough.

Dan_Boro_Till_I_Die 1,267 4.1k
Hopefully Carrick sticks with the same team unless Jones is fit and we can take Ayling out. We looked better without Greenwood so no doubt he'll be back in 🤣

We were as poor as we've been this season so I wouldn't be annoyed it we go for something else against Norwich. Wilder put me off 3 at the back for life tbh. Has its place in one offs but if we're going to go a little more solid I'd prefer we pack the midfield rather than the defence. 3 man midfield of howson, barlaser and o brien with mcgree, ELL and forss ahead. Though it also wouldn't surprise me if ELL can't manage 3 games in a week yet so maybe Greenwood or silvera in for him.
