Not sure why so many of you are clamouring for 5 at the back after that first 30 mins against Norwich. Was absolutely horrific with zero threat at all.

  • Other than the current shenanigans with the trains due to a tresspasser on the line a great away day. Topped off by seeing Bob Mortimer and him confirming he had had his pocket meat. What a fella.

  • They say a week is a long time in politics, it's even longer in football. At 5pm on Wednesday, we were wondering if we would pick up enough points to avoid relegation and dreading being turned over by

We've been terrible with most formations and lineups Carrick has used. But he's chopped and changed so much (partly due to injuries) the players haven't had time to get used to playing any particular way.

A bit of continuity might help...

But we have no wingbacks and you're essentially dropping Azaz for Mcnair. No thanks.

Taking my 8yo boy to the game today. It’s his 2nd game ever. The last one was… err… QPR at home. He loved it even tho we lost. I don’t feel confident of a win today but am gonna predict one anyway. 3-2 Boro

Thats great, win or not, hope your lad has a great day, preferably a win though. I'm going 3-1 to Boro

Remember the days when players were returning to their previous club for the first time use to be captain for the day, Dieng as captain

We aren't advocating the flat back 5 that we started with which was ridiculously negative and invited pressure onto us. More the 3 central defenders we morphed into after the red card with Ayling and Engel getting up and down the flanks.

No complaints there given what we have available . Hopefully Jones will get a bit of a run out today.

Can't predict today at all. QPR are as unpredictable as us. Could be any score or result but we do owe them one.

3 at the back 4 at the back or 5, it makes no difference until you sort out the midfield cover in front of them. We were appalling in that first twenty minutes against Norwich and it all stems from the same problem not having midfielders who compete for the ball and who repeatedly get the wrong side of their man. Hopefully Carrick will have seen what we all saw on Wednesday and has had time to adapt his tactics otherwise I fear the worst today

He does need to start showing that he can be tactically adept rather than a predictable one trick pony.
