Agree. I mean protect the players and don't single people out for criticism, thats fine.

But a bit of passion and engagement, about what he expects, what the club is working towards etc. wouldn't go amiss.

I like Carrick. He seems a really nice, loyal and committed chap, but we won’t win promotion by being nice.

His mentor, Alex Ferguson, was known for his hairdryer motivation. I can’t imagine MC doing that. A wet flannel comparison may be a bit harsh but who knows what goes on out of our sight.

Im not mad or angry tonight. It was a nearly game, at least you could see us trying and doing some good things. If jones shot goes lower or Silvera taps it in we win again.

We turned up in parts today, Ironically the games against Sheff wed and Stoke we didn’t and if we played like today we would have won.

The fact we’re talking about being gutted about being off the play offs is a good sign because we’ve turned a corner.

Im happy we’re looking up and not looking down anymore so that’ll do for me until the end of the season

Agree, massive over reaction to a nothing game really. We know what this teams about by now so I don’t get why people always seem to be shocked we haven’t ripped the opposition to shreds every week.

I don't think people are shocked by it.  I think they'd just like to actually see it now and again.

Several issues re: 1st XI quality, but averaging around 1 goal per game at home all season is by far the most urgent.

Aye, it's knackered us completely.  We have the 15th best home record in the league, and the 6th best away record.  Our home form this season has stuffed us.  We have one of the best home defensive records in the league (8th) but we are joint 21st in goals scored.  And people keep banging on about our defensive record for some reason.  We've actually got a better home defensive record than Ipswich and Southampton but Ipswich have scored 33 more goals than us, and Southampton 25 more goals than us, in the 19 home fixtures so far.  Our goal scoring, specifically at home, is what we need to be working on.  I think maybe we're all hoping/expecting changes in the summer to sort it out.  The work will need to be a lot better than what we did last summer.

But it’s pretty unlikely to happen with this team is it, it seems to be an expectation rather than a hopeful surprise.

People bang on about the defensive record because of the self inflicted goals we had/have a habit of conceding. We may have a decent home defense but it can’t be that good away, we’ve conceded 2-3 goals multiple times.

Away, scored 33 goals - 2nd most in the league with only Leicester scoring more. Conceded 31, 18th worst in the league.

Home, scored 20 goals, 4th least in the league. Conceded 21, 8th least in the league.

We may as well be two different teams.

Feel really flat after that.

I'm about done with Engel. I'm glad he's pushed on after his start but it's like a race to get rid of the ball as soon as he gets it. He's so limited apart from the occasional good pass and he's frustrating the hell out of me. I believe its a big part of why we can't score goals at home having both fullbacks so poor going forwards too.

Apart from the obvious midfield issues I have to say I was bitterly disappointed with the front four. On paper Mcgree, Azaz and Jones is imo our strongest 3 behind LL and I was quite looking forward to seeing them play together after the disapointment of Forss going off. Just a huge lack of quality. Compounded by Carrick insisting on keeping Azaz left and Mcgree central where both players are far worse than the other way round.  I think Carrick has dropped a clanger with Azaz. He was by no means the worst player when he was dropped and he looks void of confidence now.
