I think we would have been a few points better off, but I still think January would have killed off our chances, Boro showed their hand and weakened the team in the window whilst teams like Hull strengthened significantly.

Hull had a great January, as we did the previous January

I honestly think we looked & were positive in bringing a striker in but the silly money quoted scared us off, which for me, we'll have to spend this summet, with more sensible valuations been discussed 

 

In the end I don't think we can be too upset with this result.

Don't forget Blackburn are now coached by the guy who had Birmingham in the top 6 when they decided to sack him. On paper, at least, I'd say he now has a better squad to work with and fully expect to see Rovers comfortably in the play-offs next season.

I’m not sure there. It seems the majority of this season we’ve struggled to beat a low block which has resulted in us crossing more into the box. Essentially we’ve run out of ideas at that point and resort to slinging it in. 

Id be in favour of it IF we had some sort of aerial presence in the box, but we don’t. So we put it in, lose it and then leave ourselves open on a counter attack.

I'd like to see them do it unfortunately I think Leeds and Leicester will prove to have a bit too much in terms of quality. I think they'll struggle in the playoffs as well although a Norwich Ipswich playoff final would be great. The huge worry for Ipswich will be if they can keep hold of McKenna if they fail to go up as he will be very difficult to replace.

Ive said before, maybe naive on my part, though if its true about Carrick having interest from other clubs, though I cant see it myself & with him going on record that he loves it here then the last thing Gibbo wants to do is spoon feed him on scraps when he wants big time players, time will tell mind

Based on what? Do you really think Gibson would overhauled the recruiting and hired Carrick just to over see an asset stripping period?

Great point. Any club doing as well as we did with “projects” would be well pleased. Key in the summer is to balance that with a few nailed on first teamers and you have to hope we have already earmarked our targets

And they'll be in the same mess as us in the summer if they don't go up. All loans, aren't they?

I hope we get the balance of loans right this summer. You could argue we were over-reliant last season - but we were also two games from promotion. 

I think a couple of quality PL loans are what's missing from the side this year. We've loaned the likes of Greenwood and Thomas who can't get into the squads of teams we supposedly want to be competing with.

Hopefully we get a couple in of Giles/Archer quality ready to play every week in the first XI along with searching for rough gems in the permanent market who might need more time and development.
