@Redcar Rioja. Someone really needs to ask Carrick about Hoppe.

We had FOUR youngsters on the bench today. I mean how bad is Hoppe in Carricks and the coaches eyes.

I think Hoppe is being given the chance to find a club in the USA before their windows close. That's all I can think.

Bizarrely, Fotmob have Engel their MOTM yesterday. Purely based on stats. I found it amazing but his stats were actually good.

I'd say he's one of our standout performers in this 5 game unbeaten run. Don't think yesterday was his best performance though...

Matt Clarke has been Mr Immense during this period imo!

I think the trait I like most about Engel is that he acknowledges his errors by being annoyed at himself rather than shrugging his shoulders or grinning. To me it shows that he takes it seriously and looks like the sort of person who would say " I stank the place out today, but tomorrow I will bust a gut to make sure I do better". I would rather have someone like that in the team because it is the way that most of the real fans want to see the players act. We seem to have a decent bunch in the squad and I no longer get the feeling that the game is over if we are still a goal down with ten minutes to play. I know these are little things but they do make a difference to enjoying the game and I like the fact that the character of a player is given consideration along with their ability.

That’s great but how many times does he have to be angry at himself? I mean I could go out and play and get angry at myself but I wouldn’t start the next game 😂

The stats will show Engel as having played well because he was one of the players who blocked one of their shots on the line I think, and he crossed the ball in a fair few times, which will give him a key pass for each that was accurate.

We have much better players who don't get the leeway he gets for whatever reason.

He was being roasted all game long in this thread... or do you mean by management?

I mean after the match I suppose.  Like there will be revisionism of his performances sometimes.  But yeah, we have better players than him who get more stick for a lot less than he seems to be able to get away with at times.  I think it's more of a case of people wanting him to do well though rather than owt else.  Engel seems to have struck a chord with a lot of fans so he's someone you'd like to see being successful here.

I echo a lot of what people have said. The game against Norwich has really turned our season around with a tweak to the formation but also instilling a bit of fight and belief in the players.

Case in point against Southampton when Clarke went to clear it with his head. Players look bothered now and that’s all we can really ask for because that’s been vacant for a lot of the season.

We’re a long way off being promotion candidates but I’m enjoying our recent trajectory and dare I say it starting to find out squad full of likeable players again who I can get behind.
