The Last Games

Boro: Boro 2 – 0 Sheffield Wednesday

Boro beat Sheffield Wednesday in a game of two halves. The first half was first. Then came the second half after a brief interlude. Sheffield Wednesday kindly scored a goal for Boro in the first half. Then even kindlyer capitulated in the second half and allowed Boro to break up the field to knock a second, deflected, shot in. Not very kindly, the referee only allowed Middlesbrough to have one of the three penalties that they deserved. Barlaser and O’Brien both impressed in midfield. The result leaves Boro 6 points behind Norwich in 6th place, but with a far inferior goal difference.

Swansea City: Swansea 0 – 1 QPR

QPR moved to within a point of their opponents thanks to a second half goal from Steve Cook. Swansea head coach Luke Williams said of the game “We are happy and we are enthusiastic that we are moving forward in the right direction”. I’d love to see how positive he is when they win!

The View From The Other Side

See here for the Swansea forums which will likely feature Match day threads (although probably without a little Jazz based ditty sadly):

The Un(ger)-Official Match Preview

Boro will be buoyed by recent results. Unbeaten in 6 games, with 4 of those being wins.

Swansea, on the other hand, have erratic form, winning, drawing and losing in equal measure over their last 6 games. Boro should be looking to tip that balance in favour of losses for the visitors, especially before a tough run of games v Hull, Ipswich and Leeds, and I think they will. 3-0 Boro, with Jones, Latte and Barlaser scoring.

Talking Points

-       Who would win in a fight out of eleven Swans or one Lion?

-       If Boro had to play in a foreign league, what league would you want to see us join?

-       Team/score etc.

Talking points.

I'd give the benefit of doubt to the lion. Swans are no geese and I don't think theres enough to completely outmanoeuvre the king of the jungle.

‐------------

I'd like to see us play in Latvia if not the UK as:

A) we've got a chance of dominating the league

B) the best kebab I ever had was in Latvia

C) a round of celebratory Balsam sounds much more appealing than a round of jagerbombs to drown our sorrows.

--------------

Same again team wise if everyone is available. 3-0 Boro

Play off watch:

Norwich v Ipswich

Cardiff v Hull

Coventry v Leeds

Watford v Preston

Win this and we could legitimately be 3 points off 6th. We've not got the best run in but almost everyone plays 2 of the top 4  and everyone has at least one game against one of the other teams, which means that points will definitely be dropped by some of the challengers.

Remaining fixtures (I've added a * to any H2H matches):

Boro - Swansea, Hull*, Ipswich, Leeds, Cardiff*, Watford

Norwich - Ipswich, Wednesday, Preston*, Bristol City, Swansea, Birmingham

Hull - Cardiff*, Boro*, QPR, Watford, Coventry* Ipswich, Plymouth

Coventry - Leeds, Southampton, Birmingham, Hull*, Blackburn, Ipswich, QPR

(Coventry also have an FA Cup semi final in their run in)

Preston - Watford, Huddersfield, Norwich*, Southampton, QPR, Leicester, WBA

Cardiff - Hull*, Birmingham, Millwall, Southampton, Boro* Rotherham

A point from this game will confirm our Championship status for next season but if not Huddersfield need to win all their remaining games to achieve 58 points and take Boro on goal difference which stands at plus 24 at the moment. Huddersfield can not draw a game whatsoever.

Just thought I would throw it out there in case a calamity 🤔

Disclaimer I have not taken into the account the possible totals of those other teams in and around the bottom 3 maybe someone would like to work it out because I know that we are safe for another season

A swan can break a man's arm, could 11 swans break a lion's legs? I don't think so, reckon the lion wins that fight. Especially if it's our Boro lion, 'cuz he's nails, innit

Greek league looks like fun. Plus Greece has nice weather and lovely food.

2-0 Boro, Lath, Azaz

-       Who would win in a fight out of eleven Swans or one Lion?

The fight would be stopped for a technical KO in round 12 (only one Swan left!!) but the Lion would win on points.

-       If Boro had to play in a foreign league, what league would you want to see us join?

This one - it needs livening up: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isles_of_Scilly_Football_League

-       Team/score etc.

Despite folks being back, I'd like us to keep the same team if possible. RVB, Hackney on the bench. If any change then Bangura in for Thomas (who won't play for us again barring an injury crisis in the playoff final)

2-1 boro

Definitely the lion unless the Swans use grenades.

Danish League as we would be in with a decent chance of Europe every season and the style of football wouldn't be a great adjustment. Might be a few strange people in the stands but we could probably match them if we try 🙂

Unchanged if possible but if any injuries cleared, insert where appropriate..

I think 11 Swans stacked on top of each other in a trench coat would win.

I'd love to see us in Scotland so we could nick some more players off of Celtic.

-       Team/score etc.

Home form has been bad this season so I reckon a 1-1 draw. I'd have Rav straight back in if available obviously, although I struggle to name our best CB partnership when everyone is fit, we're stacked there.
