When we stamp out practices such as grouse and pheasant shooting that serve the pretensions of a tiny minority of a privileged section of our nation then we might earn the right to question others. Whales are fashionable in current times and if their harvesting was for the benefit of the few in the Faroes rather than the whole community then we might have a case, but it is in line with the nation's culture and to me, will change when that nation deems it no longer to be needed.Β  Β Β

Actually it wasn't just a "fashionable" fad for tree huggers.

Grouse andΒ  pheasant were never hunted almost to extinction, as far as I know. Whereas many whale species have either become extinct or come perilously close...hence why there was an international moratorium on whaling for decades. While itΒ continued in a very limited capacity in certain places, (e.g. among Inuit and other indigenous populations), in most places it was illegal. Think some species are still protected, in fact, because whale populations take so long to recover.

On a related note, over-fishing has also become such a problem that catching certain fish species is having to be curtailed to protect fish stocks.

Whereas the landed gentry never actually shot massive numbers ofΒ deer or wildfowl.

If we don't want to endanger our food supplies, nations' customs and traditions have to take a back seat to preserving wildlife.

THE MOST IMPORTANT GAME OF THE SEASON........................so far!!!

Does not apply and tbh I do not think any of the remaining games may carry that mantle but who knows?

Perhaps THE NEXT GAME OF THE SEASON...SO FAR!!! would be more appropriate? 😁

Only if you’re a tree hugging hippie🀣

If you’re with the concept of killing animals for food and further processing then no. They use 100% of the whale. It just looks a bit nasty because the whales are killed in a bay so the water turns all red. There is nothing cruel about it.Β

Nothing cruel about it? Are u mad? Is that the same place where one of their β€˜festivals’ is smashing seals heads in with clubs? It’s freaking barbaric mate.
