The Last Games

Boro: Boro 2 – 0 Swansea

Boro racked up another 2-0 win in the league against a spluttering Swansea team, whose biggest chance of the game was when Dan Barlaser inexplicably decided to curl the ball past Seny Dieng, luckily just putting it wide. The game was a fairly dull encounter, but Latte Lath scored a goal with each of his feet to get Boro the points they desperately needed to get no closer to the play offs…

Hull: Cardiff 1 – 3 Hull

Liverpool’s Fabio Carvalho scored twice as Hull City beat Cardiff City to earn a first win in seven games and keep alive their slim hopes of making the Championship play-offs.

Form (all competitions - most recent last)

Boro: WWDDWW

Hull: DDDLLW

The Un(ger)-Official Match Preview

Boro visit the land of chip spice and white phone boxes. Bipolar Boro are now unbeaten in 7 games (with 5 of those being wins), whilst Hull have only won one of their last 7 games. Both teams are 6 points from the play-offs, however the momentum is firmly on Boro’s side, and surely the loser of this game will be out of the play-off race for good this season. Boro will therefore win 2-1, so they can dash our hopes on the last day of the season. I expect an unchanged team after Carrick stated in his post-match interview today that Hackney and Van den Berg were ‘not really ready’ to play.

Talking Points

-       Have you tried chip spice? If not, why not?

-       What is the worst accent in the UK and why is it Hulls?

-       If you could have any company sponsoring the Riverside Stadium (which it would have to be named after), what would it be?

-       Team/Score etc.

Would anyone be tempted to set up v Hull like we did v Leicester?

Something like:

Dieng

Ayling VDB Clarke

Jones Howson O'Brien Engel

Azaz LL Silveria

I think likes of Jones and Silveria could be useful in carrying the ball forward on the counter with they pace.

I am not suggesting Hull are Real Madrid but they got quality going forward so could be a game where we set up to hit them on counter which we have done before at times with good effect this season.

However, on other hand am thinking lets not change a winning team as Hull are no better than someone like Saints and we got a draw there. Albeit I think we rode our luck at times there….

Sadly I fear our undefeated run comes to an end here, along with our (incredibly thin) playoff hopes. I'd keep the same team but swap Engel for Thomas.

Chip Spice is just American chip spice so yes I've had it, chippy sauce is superior though.

The worst accent in the UK is Essex, actually. Hands down. Lucy Beaumont is from Hull and her accent is actually adorable.

I really wish we hadn't let the Cellnet/BT Cellnet sponsorship lapse, it would be called the O2 Riverside Stadium these days which sounds pretty good!

I have no idea what Chip Spice is, or American Chip Spice for that matter, so no.

I'm not playing that game.  All accents are nice if it's just a lilt.

Coca-Cola have the right colours I suppose...

Same team, but drop Thomas for Engel, not averse to setting up in a 3 or 5 at the back at DZ suggests.

1-1.

I've never even seen it on sale.

I've had loads of chip seasonings, if it's just salt, paprika and tomato powder like Google says, I doubt it's much different to some others I've had.

What is the worst accent in the UK and why is it Hulls?

Every Sheffield contestant on Gladiators did my head in this year, especially that Bronte.

Awful accent.

If you could have any company sponsoring the Riverside Stadium (which it would have to be named after), what would it be?

Struggling to think of a good answer here, sorry.

Team/Score etc.

If fit, I'd bring in Hackney, Engel and Van den Berg.

But it's obviously going to open up Carrick to the clichéd criticism about changing a winning team if we drop points.

I think it'll be a score draw and it'll probably end our slender hopes.

I think there will be a couple of changes here. It's a tough game and one where partially fit players need to be risked so I would go.

                      Dieng

Ayling   Rav.      Clarke.   Engel

               Howson O'Brien

Jones.             Azaz.       Greenwood

                        Lath

Once we've got the game won 😂 we can mix it up a little bit. Give Hackney some minutes. Dijksteel is going to be needed for Leeds I think so he needs a few more minutes either here or against Ipswich.

Re the Ground I would just do what others do and have Bulkhaul sponsor it for whatever the maximum going rate is in the Championship - so see what Leicester get from King Power and use that.

I've never heard of it let alone try it.

What is the worst accent in the UK and why is it Hulls?

Has to be West Coast Cumbrian, everything once you pass through the Cockermouth time zone to enter 1950's Britain around Workington and Maryport. Finger nails down a Blackboard stuff.

If you could have any company sponsoring the Riverside Stadium (which it would have to be named after), what would it be?

Any within reasonable ethics and morality (which probably rules out a lot of the more prominent ones in Football today). Thinking of the popular pattern of tie ups with Airlines, KLM maybe to tie in with our local Airport, at least with KLM we avoid the obvious sportswashing connotation.

Team/Score etc.

So long as we keep it tight at the back I think we can nick it with ELL back to his best. Hopefully we can see a few like Hackney and RVB back in the side but I'm not convinced about their fitness despite being on the bench against Swansea.

I think the Play Offs were a bridge too far anyway after too many insipid and downright poor performances. As it stands anything other than a win and our slender hopes evaporate.

Don't forget...My friends in the USA Call Crisps chips...The chips your thinking of are Fries so it maybe that Chip spice is sprinkled on Crisps...I've only just discovered "Old bay seasoning" and put it on most things including prawns...So I'm not sure about this

As someone who went to University in Hull, you've absolutely gotta try chip spice. Makes average chips taste banging

-       Have you tried chip spice? If not, why not? -
Hell yeah

-       What is the worst accent in the UK and why is it Hulls? -
Black Country for me

-       If you could have any company sponsoring the Riverside Stadium (which it would have to be named after), what would it be?
I'd go with Pringles, I think The Pringle Stadium would slap and imagine having that silly Pringles man slapped on the front entrance

-       Team/Score etc.
Same team as last game but with Engel instead of Thomas, going for a 2-2 draw.

I'd probably go 5 at the back

With Bangura injured, our full backs need all the help they can get vs Philogene and Carvalho floating round

 -------------Dieng

Jones Ayling VDB Clarke Engel

     Hackney Howson Obrien

-------Greenwood Lath

Torn between Azaz's quality for on the break and Greenwood's ability to run around for an away game
