Ipswich V Boro 1-1 (Latte Lath)

Recommended Posts

Played very well, scored early doors, lovely placed header for ELL with another assist from Ayling, hes catching up to Giles on that side, Ipswich came more into the ground with good defensive cover & Dieng we kept Ipswich at bay, all the possession Ipswich had they scored a goal we have been guilty of all season, silly, neddless goal that should have been dealt with, IMHO

Second half it seemed end to end, Dieng again a ciuple of good saves, defenders blocks but their chances wete restricted on the otherhand within 2 minutes both Jones & Clarke were denied what would have been winning goals, especially Clarkes header, a top class save

Again disapointed in Silvera, too weak, gives the ball away, misplaced passes

Clarke my MOTM

We should have come away with all 3 points 9 games unbeaten, tremendous run

One of Azaz's best performances so far, Ayling's deliveries were on the money. Jones and Latte Lath were causing issues by using their pace and being direct.

Two teams both going for it, I was entertained and you couldn't argue if it was 3-3 today. Really promising.

Thought Clarke had an off day myself, but they happen to everyone.

I don't know I really don't.    I mean we're on the verge of a great achievement, something unprecedented in 20 years or more and seem unable to finish the task. Maybe we've been away from the top league for so long the players and staff are actually afraid to get back or be involved once again.     It's like a shark attack on a small boat in shallow waters and wanting to get back into open water once again, that kind of thing.     Something that provides hesitation and trepidation and you're trying to find a way round it or overcome your fears.     Can't put it into the correct words but you get the idea.

I fact Boro did well today and could just as easily have taken three points back up the east coast.    Our goalkeeper was called upon more than once to make inspired stops and keep the opposition out.     I knew you'd be no pushovers, on the verge of the top six yourselves and beating Chelsea in a League Cup semi-final game, it was always going to be tough but with all respect I did somehow expect Town to win.    In our position and so close to making it there really isn't any other option in hoping for a win and three points but by each passing game it's becoming tougher and we're dropping points at a time of the season we really can't afford to.

I suppose it's still feasible Boro could finish in top six, it remains a mathematical possibility but how much do the players there really want it.    By todays evidence you have the makings of a good team there and Latte Lath reminds me of Hamilton Ricard from years back in that he's a standout regular scorer and becoming something of a folk hero up there on Teeside.      I think you'll look back on the Hull game from the other night or at least by end of season and imagined you'd done better but it's all right, all teams are missing opportunities in this league and having regrets.    I can understand that entirely.

In an ideal world I'd have you win as many remaining games as possible in the time left and finish in sixth position.     Either we'll be promoted by that time or we could well play again in the end of season play-offs.      If you play like today and believe in yourselves (and that nearest challengers can fall away) there's still time to make it, I'd suggest not to give up on the season just yet.

I knew we wouldnt lose the match,  it was end to end, great advert for the championship

IMHO, we should have won, your keeper made two outstanding saves but the first one Jones should have been put it away, the 2nd was a terrific reaction save

Regarding your team, I really hope you go up automatically, for me, given the finances & costs of players in each of the top 4 teams you deserve to go up the most, whether you have the mentality to see it through is another matter, this time of the season when so much is as stake can affect players in different ways

Hopefully, fingers & toes crossed we see off Leeds next monday, you win your next few games & everything will look fine with the PL within touching distance

Good luck 🍺👍

Did not have to wait for long but suspect Sky have favoured Ipswich's efforts

So close but yet so far!

Fair play they did show all the good chances

On reflection a deserved draw between wo good teams

Give this a bump in case folks like @BoroAbroad missed the highlights.

Got to say Jones should have done better there but I guess this is the way things go lol

I was watching a dodgy stream in a pub, so I think it must have cut out during this point, how did their keeper get away with such a blatant handball outside of the box?

You'd have thought the 4th official would have caught it if the ref missed it.

What's the punishment in this instance though? Surely it's just a yellow card as it's not preventing a goalscoring opportunity?

Bit of a nothingburger really, I've seen countless keepers step out of their area when kicking the ball out of their hands.

Yeah, it's only a yellow card and a direct free-kick, but it's a weird thing to miss and it would have been an opportunity in a promising position.

My main take away at the moment is, all things being equal we have Fry and Lenihan sitting on the bench next season. As Fry won't go anywhere, wonder whether we are open to offers for Lenihan. I don't see Clarke or Rav not being the first choice next season - they are both outstanding.

Great game yesterday. We really should have won. It does bode well for next season. As long we don't sell too many key players.

On reflection it is probably just as well that Norwich won, had they lost at Preston then we would have bemoaned a very credible draw against Ipswich and chalked it up to another missed opportunity.

Guess this is the way it goes!

Yes agree with that

Dieng has certainly made up for his error at Hull more this season but yesterday, even restricting Ipswich to snapshots, he done his job brilliantly

Im excited for the future under Michael Carrick
