Ah right I see.  I was wondering if we'd changed something at half time. How did the younger lads look when they came on?

Some nice touches but nothing more than that.

Most impressed with Gilbert tbh, looked very good on the ball, some excellent passes and a great finish for his goal.

Cardiff were a bit rubbish, but could have been a different story but for 2 very good Dieng saves

I don't think they did much bad or good tbh.

There was a chance for one of them to score late on, but I don't think he was expecting the ball to fall to him.

Overall a disappointing season.Yes we got near the playoff places but not good enough. First seven games without a win, four points conceded to the worst team in the league and schoolboy defending cost us many more. Frustrating doesn't come anywhere near describing it.

And how was it for whatever team you support?

I watched the highlights on Sky Sports but you don't really get a feel for the game from them.  I saw Cardiff had a couple of chances, Dieng did well to save the chipped effort but that came from more sloppy play from us I think?  The save from the header was good, looked like he tipped it on to the post?  Gilbert and Lath took their goals well I thought.  It's hard to know what to make of end of season games as you never quite know who is really up for it but it looks like it was a well deserved win either way 👍

It made me laugh when Bowler's first instinct after scoring was to run and quickly retrieve the ball. Then he seemed to remember the score, thought "f*ck it", and didn't bother.

We now need to stop being typical Boro and ensure we stop this happening again, be honest to get promoted you really cant afford to lose more than 6 or 7 games all season

6 or 7 is pretty rare. 9 or 10 usually does it, as long as you have the knack of turning draws into wins. Usually with late winners.

End of season game,Cardiff players already in their deckchairs.Positivity is when you don't give away stupid goals. The Cardiff goal being a prime example.

Nahhhh I'm done with this guy haha. He's either a pure WUM or he's the most negative Boro supporter ever, never seems to find joy in anything. Even @TheJewposts positive comments from time to time. Just won 4-1 and he's are focussing on the 1 instead of the 4.

You clearly hate the football we are playing and have something against Carrick as you've gone out your way on at least 3 separate occasions which I've seen on this board to call him a failure this season, not taking into account the difficulties we've faced with injuries and the complete rebuild with youngsters we did at the start of the season.

Just don't need that sort of negativity in your life mate. Find a hobby you enjoy 🤣

To me it seemed like we coasted a bit and just controlled the ball, took the opportunities to slice through them when needed but didn’t particularly press for them.

A season of ups and downs perhaps, I don't know if I would call it a disappointment as such.  We got to a League Cup semi final, which was nice, it's not often we've been able to say that.  We've had some good wins, and yes some poor defeats as well that has to be accepted.  There have probably been more extremes to this season than is ideal if you want to be successful - we did the double over Leicester but couldn't find a win against Rotherham being the most obvious example.  Games where we've played some nice stuff, and others where we've looked dreadful. We've had two very good runs of form, this one and the earlier spell in Autumn, surrounded by lots of inconsistency.  Frustrating is a fair word for the season as we've played well enough at times to show what we could be but haven't done it often enough to actually be that team.  I think Carrick has made some mistakes this season but hopefully he's gained something as a result.  I certainly feel happier with him as the manager than with many of the others we've had recently.  We have a manager who I think wants to do the right things, which is preferable to the last few who were always going to hold us back because of their football philosophies lets say.  Next season we'll need to see some improvements in certain areas, and if we don't then maybe disappointing will be the right word for it but not I think this season.

We won 4-1 in fairness.  That's positive however you want to look at it.  Giving away a daft goal is annoying of course, and it's cost us too often this season, but it didn't cost us today as we were four goals up at the time.  One obvious positive is a team who struggled to score goals actually scoring goals.  Just needs to continue throughout next season now!

I’d say the season was disappointing from the pov that we’ve been our own worst enemy. We could very easily have made the play offs even if we just halved the amount of ridiculous mistakes we’ve made that led to goals.

The Leeds game for example, their only ‘good’ goal was a yard offside, the Bamford goal just totally summed us up this season, easily avoidable goals that have cost us points.
