Yes he needs to bulk out a bit but that will come naturally in the next couple years, just like Coburn. He’s a Rolls Royce of a defender in the 18’s.

I remember Fry looking similar when he played in his debut against Preston (?) under Karanka. Tall, but built like a twig 🤣.

They'll have him in the gym and in the canteen over preseason! 🤣🤣

I think that is 8 goals for Isaiah this season,  with missing 2 months that's a very decent return

Lovely way to sign off. Good performance by Boro. They looked like they wanted to finish the season on a high and they certainly delivered. Some positively sparkling attacking play and 3 wel

Yea I think we would have.

Rogers was a special talent.

But I don't blame the club either for doing the deal.

Imo we STILL need the following:

2 x Right back

2 x Centre mids

2 x attacking mids/ no.10.

2 x wingers

2 x strikers

10 players minimum.

The bin list:

Ayling, Thomas, Greenwood and O'Brien (loans)

Djiksteel and Smith

Silvera

The MUST keep list

Dieng

VDB

Clarke

Fry

Bangura

Jones

McGree

Hackney

ELL

Azaz

10 players. The rest I'm completely apathetic about.

This is one of your reply’s during our defeat to Preston, can’t have thought Roger’s was so special if you were “completely apathetic” about him 🥲

And in a weird way I'm glad we haven't made the playoffs, obviously we want prem football and the associated money, but I hope we can have another year of building this momentum and adding the finishing touches to the squad, we would've been eaten alive this time around, I fear!

Well a lot would depend on how well we recruited to build a PL-ready squad, but with another season in the Champ, hopefully (if we make it) it will be a less expensive (and disruptive) process.

Can someone tell me how McCabe did and Gilbert? Are we thinking they could be involved next season or better of on loan?

Didn't notice McCabe tbh but Gilbert had arguably his best game for us. Was involved in a fair bit of build-up play, had a couple of efforts on goal and made a massively important goal-saving challenge at the other end.

Would hope he gets a fair amount of game time next season, even if he's not a first choice player. The lad has shown some decent ability IMO.

The more I think about Gilbert the more important I think he could be next season. The reason we struggled against smaller teams is we just had no way of picking out runners in behind a packed defence with not much room to work in. I think that is Gilbert’s speciality. He could be perfect in games like the Rotherham ones where we just can’t seem to pick the right pass to get through their defence. He’s the Boro Pirlo.

you think we need 10 more players, 6 of those attackers? we only play 4 attackers in our formation. on ur keep list we have 4 attackers. so you want us to have 10 attackers. how many attackers do you want us to have on the bench? all 6 of the ones that never got into the starting 11. + no mention of forss and gilbert are you planning on keeping them? just incase we get 8 forwards injured at once. you can never be to careful.

Read the post again.  He was quoting TJ from TJs post of a month ago back to him, not saying what he currently thinks is needed!

Rogers was already gone by the time he posted that, though?

Do you know, I'd be interested in finding out if there's some kind of metric for this but the thing I've noticed with Gilbert since he's come in, he picks out some lovely attacking passes that really open up space. That one he laid on for Luke Thomas' chance was just the perfect weight. Not to mention a couple of lovey pings in behind from deep, notably the assist for Latte Lath header.

Some of the passes he's made do make you wonder why he couldn't get anywhere near the team for so long during the injury crisis

I can't help thinking about the beast it would be, if Lath and Chuba were in the same team ... Would it work?  (no chance of it to happen, but just play along) 😉
