SimonD 1,375 1.5k
Norwich City vs. Middlesbrough Carrow Road, 3pm, Sunday 27th October 2024. Also its on the tellybox! How do, this my first ever match day thread - it’s a dream come true to take on this prestigious mantle. One to tick off the bucket list which also has ‘grow up’, ‘visit Japan’ and 'steam clean the sofa' on it. Feels good after Sheff Utd doesn’t it? It was so good I opened a 2nd bottle of wine and woke up fully clothed on the sofa with sky sports news running in the background. WHAT A NIGHT. My wife hasn’t spoken to me today… Not sure how this one will go to be honest - they’d been fairly inconsistent until a recent run of good form (unbeaten and 12 points in last 6 games compared to our 9 and wobbly form). Would gladly take a draw. Depends which Boro decides to turn up. I thought Doak was brilliant last night. Edmondson had a great game. Special praise for Azaz who I thought was excellent - that pass man, beautiful. And ELLs headed finish, beaut. Also I love Hackney and Morris in Midfield. They’re getting stronger (although secretly happy that Johnny is back from injury) I don’t recall many good headers of the ball type strikers in recent years so there’s one to have a think about (see questions below) Form Guide We’re both on 17 points but Norwich are bang in form… They’re ahead of us on goal difference but we’ve won more games, so we’re better Boro - LWWLLW: Bristol and Watford were gutting, so it was nice to put one over on Sheff Utd and smug Wilder. He said some nice things about us post match but I will never forgive him. Our form looks wonky doesn’t it - I think I would be OK with it if not for the home loss and the ‘inevitable’ collapse at Watford. Urgh, who’d be a boro supporter? Norwich - WWDWDD: Unbeaten in the last 6, eek. Thrashed Hull followed by two away draws against Stoke and Preston. Their biggest news is that Delia has gone and Jack Wilshire has joined the coaching team. Let’s hope he is rubbish at coaching, and maybe the players will rebel as their canteen reverts to bad ready meals post-Delia View from the other side I really like The Pink ‘Un. One of the better football websites for another team (The Swindon website being my absolute favourite mainly due to this https://thewashbag.com/stfc-hall-of-shame/ which is AWESOME - we need something similar) I digress. Nothing much note about the game on their forum but someone is asking for a best Indian restaurant recommendation if anyone wants to reply https://forum.pinkun.com/index.php?/topic/158159-boro-build-up/. There's also this, where they're dissing Boro Fan TV: https://forum.pinkun.com/index.php?/topic/158143-boro-sunday-3pm/ Who’s played for both of us? Ben Gibson, Johnny H, Dani Ayala, Jacob Butterfield, Jonathan grounds, Danny Batth, Onel Hernandez (He loves Argos y’know?), Yanic Wildschut, Jordan Hugill, James Husband, Trevor Putney And many more (feel free to comment, I am sure someone can go further back. I’m only a young 48 year old after all) Burning questions 1. What’s your team? Who starts, who’s on the bench 2. Who remembers Dale Fry and Darragh Lenihan? Will they ever be fit again? 3. Will we go unbeaten until the end of the season and I have to write every match day thread from hereon in? Let's see 4. As we wave goodbye to Delia, what’s your favourite ever food and what food can’t you stand? 5. Who is the best Boro headerer ever (I’m thinking strikers but if you have pick another position, I can deal with it) COME ON BORO 7

MarkT73 924 956
Father in Law lives about 6 miles out the centre on the Yarmouth road (beautiful house but in the weirdest "village of the damned" place and very typical of the villages dotted around deepest Norfolk). So combining an In laws visit with the family. Have to suffer Sunday lunch at a canal-side pub, then getting dropped in to the city, post match beers in "the Murderers" pub with some friends I know who are Carrow Rd ST holders. Go every year as doesn't feel such a bad journey when staying over for a few days. Hate the A17 and A47 tho Good recent record. Vivid memories of the 4-4 where we capitulated 3 goals in the last 5 minutes. I was ready to take on the whole pub post match. Anyway 1. Not many changes. Decision to make between Conway and ELL. Has his goal lit the fire ? Think Edmundson had his best game last night, as did Borges. Doak didn't get round the SU LB as often but probably holds his place. No Riley No party - played a blinder and should be first name on the sheet for me. 2. I hope so. Both are class and can only benefit us when back. Don't think there's a team with a better set of 5 CB's 3. No 😂. But I fancy a win... And all our hopes will be high, until Cov do us again 😡 4. Toss up between Steak at Del Frisco NYC, or Beef Carpacio and Diavola pizza at Chi Burglaz in Rimini (San Marino MotoGP). 5. Not overall but I'll never forget French Frank and Juninho combining and the little fellas nearpost diving header Boro to win by odd goal in a 5 goal thriller 1

RiseAgainst 5,001 4.1k
1. What’s your team? Who starts, who’s on the bench I'd pick an unchanged team, give Conway an hour to build his confidence (and hopefully net a goal) and then bring LL on to terrorise a tiring Norwich defence. However, I wouldn't be at all disappointed if LL goes straight back into the starting XI. I'd keep Clarke on the bench because Edmundson was a colossus against Sheff U, and give him and Howson a 15-20 minute run-out towards the end. 2. Who remembers Dale Fry and Darragh Lenihan? Will they ever be fit again? Even if they do somehow regain full fitness, could they hope to dislodge any two of our three excellent CBs? I can see one of the walking wounded leaving in January. 3. Will we go unbeaten until the end of the season and I have to write every match day thread from hereon in? If you do, we're going up as champions - so no, you won't, because it's never that easy being a Boro fan. Hopefully you'll get to do a few more MDTs between now and the IB. 4. As we wave goodbye to Delia, what’s your favourite ever food and what food can’t you stand? My favourite food is probably a mushroom and olive Domino's pizza, complete with a large pot of garlic and herb dip. My bête noire is carrots. Absolutely despise the things. There was an episode of Bottom where they turned them into explosives, which is the fate I would like to see befall every carrot. 5. Who is the best Boro headerer ever (I’m thinking strikers but if you have pick another position, I can deal with it) The best individual header has to be Maccarone's against Steaua, although Dani Ayala was pretty good with his head from memory. Sadly, it's a dying art, and I wouldn't be surprised if heading the ball is banned in a few years' time. 1

boro-unger 4,686 17.9k
Good job on your first MDT Simon! Hopefully you'll get to do a few more in a row now. Burning questions 1. What’s your team? Who starts, who’s on the bench Same as last game, but I'd start LL. He's got some lost time (or goals) to make up for. Forss on the bench 2. Who remembers Dale Fry and Darragh Lenihan? Will they ever be fit again? Hopefully for when our current CBs all step on a landmine sometime. Bound to happen at some point. 3. Will we go unbeaten until the end of the season and I have to write every match day thread from hereon in? Let's see I'd take just going unbeaten this week (a Mon-Mon week) 4. As we wave goodbye to Delia, what’s your favourite ever food and what food can’t you stand? What happened to Delia?! I like crispy duck in pancakes (and turkey dinosaurs, but not at the same time) Worst is tomato ketchup. Blurgh. 5. Who is the best Boro headerer ever (I’m thinking strikers but if you have pick another position, I can deal with it) Got to be Maccaorone. He could do a diving header in slow motion! 1
