Did Carrick really change to a more direct approach or is that just how he actually wants to play and it worked this time? Everytime we’ve played well we play like that.

I'd say the way we played was almost a throwback to when we had Archer, Giles and Akpom. Much slicker and quicker (at times). There was definitely more urgency and directness at times albeit interspersed with fannying around a little too much at the back. All in all a huge positive step forward in fairness.

It helps when teams give us space to run in behind

Not many teams to do that and then its harder to play like this.

I honestly don’t think we changed how we played. And the performance itself wasn’t all that different than what weve given in other games this season.

The main difference in my eyes is we simply took our chances. Same was the case at QPR.

Up until the first goal I actually thought if anything they edged it (albeit not creating that much). Our 3rd and 4th goals were both from hitting them on the break. Something which probably doesn’t happen if we aren’t in the lead. This has been the case in many games this season.

I think the only noticeable change was Dieng going long a few times. It looked like it was a ploy to try and get joy with quick balls up to Burgzorg and Latte Lath.

We've been saying all season that eventually someone’s going to get a thumping from us. The sheer amount of good chances we were missing on a regular basis was silly.

Absolutely delighted with that result and finally we are in the top 6. Chuffed for ELL what a great goal.

Only slight and its slight downside was taking our foot off the gas around the time of the substitutions and conceding.

The goal we conceded was textbook Boro unnessary passing and a man free on in the D.

Minor niggles on an excellent day.

What helped was Burgzorg.

His positioning and physical presence was a menace and he often got close to ELL to form a 2.

Djiksteel also continues to show he is the best right back, and on the showing today Ayling is arguably the best option at left back.

I said before, and with my initial lineups we needed more balance, pace and power. The front 3 of Burgzorg, ELL and Doak is our most expansive.

This isn't to say I don't rate McGree, I do. But for me, until Bangura comes back and VDB, that's close to our strongest 11 that started today imo.

Today was very like the season of 2 years back when we seem to spells in games that other sides cant live with. As for the goals, a clever set piece, Azaz scoring the type of goal that always seems to fly in against us, a tremendous team goal for Azaz's first , very unselfish from Latte Lath to set up Burgzorg and then Latte Lath's goal. It was a work of art ! Everyone played well but Morris, Dijksteel, Latte Lath and Doak were excellent.  Burgzorg made me eat my words as I thought he seemed an odd signing. We have closed the gap at the top this week by 4 points and 7 goals on Sunlun.

Yes but it’s the first time he’s really been a ‘menace’, if he can put a few good performances together then who know but no chance can u say he’s better than McGree.

Lovely game of football that! Fair play to Burgzorg, I like many others have give him plenty of peters for his performances recently but he more than showed up today. Felt we needed another win today to get the season going and it’s a nice way to go into the international break! Hopefully a good rest for the bulk of the squad and we can continue the push in a few weeks!

I'm not saying he is better. I'm saying we are better suited as a team with that lineup.

No, you're just reacting to today's game.  That's all.  If that line up played like crap next time out it would be the wrong team.  I also don't remember you wanting Burgzorg in the side at all, Gilbert you mentioned a few times, but not Burgzorg.
