Really can’t get my head round resting mcgree regularly, we’re a miles better team with him just don’t click at all without him.

It’s fairly simple IMO - he’s a good player who probably needs a rest / managing game to game.

Also we have a big squad for a reason. You’re not gonna do well in the league by playing the same 11 players. Unless it’s like the 1930s or summat

Carrick has gone on record saying that this is the best overall squad he's had since he's been here so I guess it's time for the squad to prove him right. Huge game for Burgzorg who has shown very little since we bought him. (As he was one of my wildcard picks for this summer, that's been disappointing for me.)

Mind you, if I were George McCormick, I would be wondering what I have to do to start a game. Carrick has shown over and over that he will not pick academy players in a game that matters. There is always a reason to not pick an academy player: the other team is too physical, too technical, too fast, the match is too pressured, we're doing too badly (wrong time to risk a new player) or doing so well that it's not fair to drop anyone and so on and so on. If you're a left back who has impressed every time you have played, who has been made captain of the U21s and there are no fit left backs left standing but you still don't get picked, well, you're never getting picked for a match that means anything. To be fair, it's not a bad call in isolation. Dijksteel has earned a start and Ayling's leadership is important but everytime Carrick could pick an academy player, he doesn't.

Carrick has upped the stakes with his choices. Works, and he shows he can rotate this squad. Doesn't work and all the questions about his ability and judgement as a manager come back.

I detest these early kick offs, 12.30 is a nonsense time to play a game of football, what is it to do with, television rights. Not sure about resting and rotating players before yet another interminable international break, whether McGree etc is fit to play for Australia is of no concern in my humble opinion
