One thing that is irritating is that it's the third league match in a row where we've scored against Leeds and went on to lose it.

Took the lead three times and equalised once in the two last season, equalised this season, conceded 10, won 0 points.

  • The easy thing to say was they pressed us into mistakes but that was hardly the case, we constantly gave the ball away when we weren’t under any pressure. Hackney and Barlaser were doing no look 5 yar

  • Did you know, Leeds haven't conceded in over 1 minute at home!

Only thing more embarrassing than this performance is this comment. Last 8 games we've lost 2, drawn 1 and won 5, that's easily play off form.

Have confidence we will score. Have little confidence we will keep a clean sheet.

Battles all over the pitch tonight. Doak up against Wober who’s usually a CB. Borges worries me up against Dan James. Huge pace difference between them two!

Well I was right about us scoring, and right about us not keeping a clean sheet. Shame Doak had a poor game. Fair play Wober, did a right job on him. Less said about Borges up against James the better. Saw that coming from a mile off.

I hate Leeds as well but credit where credit is due, they do very well with the ball in possession and took their chances tonight. That’s the cutting edge we need to find, Doak had a couple chances from a little deeper like Dan James’ goal that we need to capitalise on.

Their opportunities were completely different tbf, James was running centrally unopposed to goal where as Leeds have defenders back. They taught us a lesson in terms of defending their box at home

That third goal is still preventable from when he gives it away. It's mad to think you can keep making that pass and for it to go much differently so I'm not giving him a free pass but the gap Clarke left, leaving half the Leeds team onside in the process, *** poor.

What exactly do you expect Clarke to do ? He has absolutely nowhere to go, he can't just step forward with 3 players running towards our goal. His best bet is dropping back and hoping the player doesn't get his head up, or gets greedy and goes himself, or plays the pass poorly and he can intercept after he split the forwards. He obviously played them onside but he can't be to blame for that mate come on, the pass killed us and he was left in no mans land because of it.

Haha just seen the build up to their second goal. Carrick was absolutely raging at either Dieng or Dijksteel (presumably Dieng) for throwing the ball out straight away just after James had his first chance.

I think the issue for Hackney is not having as much of a free role without Morris in the team. He is best when he is on the front foot and running at the opponents defence and he had a couple chances to do that in the second half but Barlaser doesn’t cover as much ground as Morris does.

I also think Azaz in big games is very important, we need to find a way for him to be so much more involved, whether that’s him demanding the ball more or the players just finding him more.

We’re going to be out of the play offs with Watford a point behind and 2 games in hand… 6 off the group above. Carrick seriously needs to pull his finger out, we need major work in January

No we don’t

Yes I completely agree but was just using those chances that Doak had to either get a shot away or find a pass. By no means am I saying they where equal chances because they really weren’t but I still think Doak could have done better on the two occasions and then also he chance he has that Meslier smothered.

I think azaz suffered with what he suffers vs most teams that press quickly. He just doesn't have the speed of thought required to break down those kinds of defences imo, he needs time to think and decide what he's going to do. Didn't get a second today and he made wrong decision after wrong decision. He's incredible against teams who aren't as quick to close him down but needs to improve that side of his game.

I don’t think we can really match Leeds given where they were last season. Also we have a clear playing style which comes with its own baggage (re-read most of this thread). Would have loved a draw but would like to quickly move on

Miles better is doing us a disservice in my eyes.

Indeed. We're missing a key player in Morris, for sure. And this game had a real midfield battle, they made us look very average at times from good organised pressing.

But other than that, tonight we had more than enough in that squad to get something from the game. I think Carrick makes our squad look worse than it is sometimes too by not being able to handle his substitutions in an effective way. He has more options than he ends up showing and he could be more proactive in his changes. I also think Conway for Azaz was a poor change. McGree was finally in the game second half too and he takes him off too.

Leeds are a better side for me but I don't think the gap is massive. It's probably the biggest gap in quality ahead of us in the division but they, like everyone else at this level, are still just a good Championship team and not much more than that. For me, anyway.

The entire back 4 and GK are massively underperforming and conceding every single game without fail, you wouldn’t call that major work?

I think the game is best described as Boro went hunting mushrooms with a rifle and shot ourselves in the foot on 3 occasions 🤦‍♂️

Good to see the Doylems back out in force. Must have been a tough month for them. Glad you made it through lads

This is why he hasn't cut it at a higher level, and why Villa we're happy to let him go and shell out 15m for Rogers going the other way. That bit of pace and physicality is massive the higher up the leagues you go. Fully agree with everything you said, he's a bit of a Championship flat-track bully, in games where we dominate he will make things happen. Under the cosh he can't take the ball on the half turn and roll somebody and get away like Chuba and Rogers can. Not his fault obviously, but it does contribute to us struggling against the best teams.
