If we fail to make the playoffs ( and it's a distinct possibility) ,Gibson will sack Carrick or Carrick will walk. Gibson has to think about selling his vastly inflated season tickets and putting bums on seats. These days you don't give a manager more than three seasons if he has failed.

Genuinely baffles me how some people seem so desperate to see us return to the scattergun 18 month cycle of hiring and firing, massive overturns in players season to season, tactical overhauls etc. in the hopes seeing us strike it lucky and ride a new manager bounce to promotion like Forest did with Cooper.

Personally I’m much happier having one man to get behind and a project with a clear vision that I can be invested in, even if it doesn’t happen for us this season.

Nobby good to see you've maintained your jaundiced view. I don't believe anyone questions the quality of Leeds. What IS up for debate was the poor application we gave for the majority of the game. Overrun in midfield, outpaced all over the park, lacking in quality of passing. We were very much the architects of our own downfall.

That was the reality and there's no masking this - there really isn't.

Tbf they were saying on comms that we were one of the best teams to come to Elland Road this season. I don’t claim to have watched a huge amount of them this season, and I agree that we were largely crap, but does that not perhaps suggest that maybe they’re just really good and made us look poor by our standards.

If folk want to take comfort from opposing fans views - fair enough. Easy to be gracious when winning.

There is no getting away from the fact we were sub standard and below par. Whilst that is somewhat forgivable it doesn't explain the constant mispassing that contributed to our downfall.

We were poor all over the pitch. A big opportunity completely spurned.

A bad result on Saturday and we are out of the playoff places. Carrick is underperforming IMO and the excuses are running out.

We could be 8th after tonights results, fortunately even if we lose on Saturday we'll not drop any further, for the moment

Maybe look up the word Jaundiced.

Yes, we had a bad game, no one is trying to mask that. We can and have played much better than that this season and will play much better than that again. People don't mask that but seem to forget the good performances very quickly. People will even argue it wasn't a good performance and we didn't deserve the win/oppo was poor when we play well and win.

It's about the mindset of the individual. Depending on your mindset there are positives that can be taken or there is be wailing to be done. Wailing is a lot more popular than pragmatism, and provides very dull low vibrational content. That's ok if you choose it, but you'll always meet people with a brighter perspective, and you always have a choice to change your disposition.

To spin it differently for example, a thought experiment if you like; How we managed to stay in the game so long playing so badly against one of the best - the best so far imo - teams in the league away is actually phenomenal. We should have even had a nailed on peno BEFORE we equalised. Commentators saying it was Leeds toughest game all season - and yet Boro were genuinely pure gash. That's crackers we managed to give them their sternest test playing that poorly. We all know we can play many times better. There is the chance to bring optimism into your life.

And to everyone saying so - imo Giles would not have made even the tiniest difference to the game.

On to the next game, UTB!

@Mods any chance of banning this absolute WUM yet

Here we go. Don't like what I post so I have to be cancelled. How dare you decide whether someone can or cannot post on this Forum. My opinion, like anyone else's should be given an airing. Haven't you got enough about you that you can recognise we still live in a country where free speech, albeit is under threat. If I don't agree with what you have to say I'm certainly not going to call for you to be banned. I'm aware that some Forums seem to have this bullying culture where " dissidents" have to be erased. I hope this Forum is not like that. Let's have honest debate.

I’m not taking comfort in anything 🤣

I’m just taking my boro hat off, looking at the game objectively, and giving Leeds credit. I’ve seen us in enough games this season where we’ve threw it away ourselves to know what that looks like and imo we were just well beaten last night.

If anything I feel like I’m being a realist and the ones telling themselves that we inexplicably shot ourselves in the foot and would win that game 9 out of 10 times are the deluded ones.

Two of the hardest fixtures of the season out of the way, there's only really Sheffield United away that could be comparable. 1 point out of those two fixtures is what the bookies had us down for - and it's what we ended up getting - lets finish these last 3 fixtures and see where we are at the halfway point.

And I'm seeing it from a Boro fan perspective. Potentially the biggest game of the season and we hardly performed at all in the first half. We could have had little complaint if we were 3 down at half time.

The hardest part was identifying players from our team that emerged with any credit.  Apart from 15-20 minutes in the second half we were uncompetitive, lacking pace, allowing Leeds the freedom of the pitch.

All in all, a tame effort against a team who admittedly were better than us - but we contributed to how good they looked.

This is why he hasn't cut it at a higher level, and why Villa we're happy to let him go and shell out 15m for Rogers going the other way. That bit of pace and physicality is massive the higher up the leagues you go. Fully agree with everything you said, he's a bit of a Championship flat-track bully, in games where we dominate he will make things happen. Under the cosh he can't take the ball on the half turn and roll somebody and get away like Chuba and Rogers can. Not his fault obviously, but it does contribute to us struggling against the best teams.

What is a flat track bully ? Is it someone who does well against poorer teams ? Azaz was playing for Plymouth last year and did alright.
