Leeds United V Boro 3-1 (Wober OG)

Recommended Posts

I want him banning because he's a tedious *** and people won't stop quoting him, which negates me having him on ignore.

Nowhere to be seen unless there's something to moan about.

If we're doing well, it's radio silence, the second a problem arises, he'll leap in and start doom monging.

PG has a right to express his views and others have a right to disagree with them, They may be more negative than some would like but that's the way it is. We all see something in this club that makes us want to support them so he must still have some hope that things will go better than he thinks and just always sees things in a less positive way than others so just for a change, I want to know what people, including PG, think we are getting right whether it is small or large, there must be something 🙂

Thanks for that. I have congratulated the team when they have done well. I suppose I'm a glass half full sort of bloke and tend to concentrate more on where I think things are not as good as they should be. I have never been able to understand the mindset of those who will not accept criticism of the club. Let me talk about the positives as I see them. Steve Gibson's support of the club is one of them. The fans, particularly the away contingent. They are magnificent, is another. We have a good squad for this League. At times the team can play exciting flowing football.

However the team is badly unbalanced and the left hand side needs strengthening. Defensively at times we are woeful, hence the inability to keep clean sheets and our poor away goals column. There is a distinct lack of focus at times leading to bad mistakes.

Finally I will admit that Carrick has done quite well but there is much room for improvement, particularly his in game management and use of subs.

Hopefully the January window might provide the missing pieces of the jigsaw. I never thought automatics was ever on, but we ought to be well able to reach the playoffs. If some of our sloppy play can be addressed. Getting into the playoff final and winning it is course another matter.

A Merry Christmas to one and all.

I know Boro have the capacity to induce negativity in a saint sometimes, but compared to some seasons in the not-too-distant past, I think we're doing okay.

What are Boro getting right? Trying to grow the club and squad in a financially sustainable way.

Whether fans agree on the WAY they are doing that depends on your point of view.

With the resources Boro have available, could we attract a better manager than MC? Personally I think its doubtful. Could we do better recruitment-wise, while still living within our means? Possibly - but again its being able to find players that fit Carrick & Scott's model.

Only thing I really wish we could change is the coaching staff, as I really don't think the current bunch are capable of doing more than just keeping the players at a decent level of fitness. I also do question whether or not our training methods have something to do with the non-match injuries.

I know some fans are impatient for success and seem to think Boro should be challenging for promotion every season, but we should remember what happened in the past when we shot for the moon and failed.

The first half they were much better and controlled the game. In the second half we controlled the game and didn’t let Leeds play their game in their ground, not many teams will do that. If we’d have got the final pass right on two or three occasions we could have took the lead. Doak also had a great chance to put us 2-1 up. In the end we came unstuck and they deserved their goals and the win but on another night we could have won that game.

2 teams came away with 3 points from Elland Road last season and I wouldn’t be surprised if it is similar this season. Losing away at Leeds is no shame, especially in the manor we went about it.

I wouldn't say we controlled the 2nd half, but we definitely looked better organised for a while. As I said in another post, we forced a mistake that led to our equaliser and missed a couple of good chances to add to our tally, but we just don't have that quality or speed of though to make the right decisions under pressure.

After their 2nd goal went in I thought we started to look ragged again.

Agree though, there's no shame losing at Elland Road. We tried to play our normal game, rather than grind out a bore draw and credit to the lads & Carrick for doing that.

I normally find myself agreeing with you. However one aspect of your post I would take issue with you. Fans being impatient for success?! How many seasons have we been outside the Prem now?

I think the fans have been incredibly patient. And Carrick has been a major benefactor of this.

Whilst Carrick has his assets equally there's things to work on - predominantly how to set up a defence!
