Erimus74 4,914 5.1k
We're awful to watch, easy to play against, easy to defend against & consistently give cheap goals away, we just have no zest I just don't see any improvement from the beginning of last season, one thing we have that is consistent is our awful home record We were lucky to even be in the game until they finally scored Earlier in the season we had a purple patch of scoring 15 goals in 3 matches & apart from that we've been boring, slow, predictable & no matter how you dress it up as bad a s the start of last season Gibbo has again backed his manager with money & will continue to do so but we're nowhere near a promoted team I kept saying to my son after a rare well recoded win that we'll now see the team go & each time we looked like a team full of strangers When we've only twice this season recorded two consecutive games of cleansheets on the bounce tells you all you need to know

It was only a matter of time before they would score and on another day we would have been hammered. Granted I don't sit in the stands behind the bench, so I can only see what I see on TV, but I didn't see a single time Carrick willing the players on or trying to get them fired up. He's played under Ferguson for years and there is no chance Ferguson would just have stood muted to the sidelines and watching the game play out like it did. The lack of proactive action and seeing what is playing out in front of his eyes is alarming.

I looked across at the scoreboard & next to the score it showed '62 minutes' on the clock & I just thought, that in a cup tie were we've been totally awful he knows the 11 on the pitch aren't going to do anything he just stood there motionless & I'm thinking, is he going to do something, 3 minutes later (65 minutes) he takes off Hamilton for Forss then another 12 minutes later (76 minutes) to make 2 further changes, same old, same old

Plastic Goat 565 875
Carrick is finished. He's now stealing a living from Boro. He really needs to go now. If he stays, kiss goodbye to a playoff place. If he goes now, maybe a new manager might get this bunch of overpaid pansies to find some backbone. What an utterly depressing situation he is creating at this club. For goodness sake Gibbo get rid of him.

Bruce 2,678 2.2k
Up until today you could look at our last 10 matches in the Championship Won 3, drawn 5, lost 2, 14 points and you could see it positively or negatively depending on your views. When a team keeps drawing you feel that they will break one way or the other. Our last 10 games after Portsmouth is still the same in terms of points but it feels like every game is the same: the team just has no belief that it can see out a game. Those last 10 games we've played 6 teams in the bottom half and had three wins, 2 draws and 1 loss. That's actually not too bad but our 4 games against top half teams have been 3 draws and 1 loss which is just not up to the standard you need for the play-offs. what that shows to me is that we're simply not capable of competing against the teams we need to compete against. Bottom line is that Carrick has had money spent and we're flatlining: same problems week in, week out. There's no sign of progress. No sign that anything will change. I don't really see a compelling reason to change manager but you have to start wondering whether Carrick can turn this round. Personally, I think Carrick needs whatever support he asks for to get this team firing or to prove that he can't. There's an element of holding our nerve but even at this point I have no idea whether Carrick is actually a good manager. It does remind me of Southgate. Where Southgate had to try to work with season after season of cost-cutting, Carrick is struggling with a ludicrous injury list. Today, against Portsmouth, he had Brynn, Dijksteel, Smith, Lenihan, Bangura, Howson, McGree, Conway all out injured and Dieng, Ayling, Morris & Forss not fit enough to start. That plus Jones had just been sold. Thirteen of his 25 players not available for his starting 11. On one hand, I don't know how any coach copes with that when it happens every week of the season. On the other hand, it feels like his team just makes the same mistakes over and over. I realise that Carrick doesn't like to give anything away but it feels like he really, really needs a reset now. It's not a crisis, yet, but if it drifts for much longer, it will be.
BoroWales 204 217
Genuinely believe the loss and lack of a replacement for Dani’s is a big factor in our decline. I remember beating SheffUtd away in Carricks 1st season and I swear to god that was the best I’ve ever seen the Boro play. Just wish we could get back to that but it seems a long way off. martonboro 559 573
Need a quick start against WBA or it could turn very nasty very quickly. Given our home form this season, that is more than likely. I like the man and I want him to succeed not just for the benefit of our football club, but because he has integrity and stands up for his players. However, it is hard to say that he is learning how to manage a game better and it is risky saying "he is still learning" when we are in our current position.
