I really do not get this unconditional love in for Carrick. The Boro supporters know of his frailties - so do the opposition.

He has proved he is not for altering his philosophy - fair enough.

But should this still be engaged when the detriment to the club is being played out?

Carrick a fantastic stylish footballer - is this why some of the fanbase still retain support for him?

To me he is clearly in a category of " taken the club as far as he can".

My faith has gone - and he should be gone IMO.

The abundant faith in Carrick thing is probably a bit of a myth or PR. Carrick has demonstrated that he does not,or cannot learn from his mistakes. He won't be at Boro next season.

What makes you think he is not sure himself?

You can go back as far as John Neal’s team in the old first division.

Our problem back then was top 6 Home form, relegation Away form.

Do we really need a new gaffer?

Would we really be apathetic if Carrick left?

Were we really in a crisis after 1 loss in 7?

I'm still indifferent.  We did ok tonight, certainly in the first half anyway, and got the job done in the second half but there's still no consistency to us.  The win feels good tonight precisely because we haven't been playing well.

It will do us the world of good if we can pick the same starting 11 as tonight for a few games in a row

Just sickens me people calling for a new manager after 1 loss every single time, it's as if there's a starve for struggle in football these days. A craving for either elation or turmoil, temporarily in between is unacceptable

It might do us the world of good or we might continue to be a team that can't string more than a good game or two together.  We've won three games in a row once this season, and two games in a row once this season.  Think about that for a minute.  It's one loss in seven as you say but it's also true to say that we've won three games in seven weeks now, and it's not like we've had lots of time off.  Three wins in ten championship games isn't anything to celebrate, not really anyway.  If we put together a good run of results then there won't be any issues.

The reason Carrick has been getting heat is a culmination of poor performances and results that have left us adrift and out of the running for the top 2 before we've had our Christmas turkey. It's widely accepted that we were to challenge for the top two this season and that hasn't happened, so understandably fans are disgruntled.

Is it possible that we overestimated the squad and it actually has no divine right to be a top 2 contender, it sometimes feels that some fans think anyone could manage us and finish top 6

Engel, Barlaser, Burgzorg, Current McGree, Glover, etc have been regular starters for us. That to me doesn’t feel like we should be challenging for top 2

I think we’re about where we should be, we’ve thrown some points away against *** teams and had some bad luck at times so probably closer to top 2 but by no means has the season been a crisis or a sackable offence so far imo

Sick of seeing it after every non-win

I think poor start to the season, the vast number of points we've dropped against inferior opposition not to mention all the points we've dropped at home, indicate to me that had we returned the points from those games that we should have, then we'd still be in the race for the top two.

Yes!

Indeed, that's two consecutive poor starts to a season and 2.5 seasons of dropping points against relegation haunted opponents and then a woeful Home record this season to boot. Even tonight his half time team talk yielded the same lack of drive and intensity (which a few on here joked about at half time would happen) and consequently the second half saw us defending for our lives at times. I have no idea how he does it but he manages it on a regular basis.

During half time I said to my son in law we have comfortably won that half 1-0 which could & should have been 3, that was our Jeckyll half I said, hope Hyde doesnt turn up tonight, but as the 2nd half progressed & Hyde was here we as a team stood strong & protected our lead for us to extend it & become worthy winners

Some of the knee jerking is really energy sucking I agree, but the longer it goes on the more you have to think about it. It’s not just ‘a none win’ it’s multiple times and the same thing every time. The sheff wed game was sickeningly predictable and we could literally have wrote the script for what was going to happen.

Id agree you can’t call for his head just because we’ve lost but equally you can’t pop up on here after we finally get a good result and say ‘see I told you it was all fine’. Let’s be real it is far from fine, it will take more than this game to show that.

I do think there’s an element of overrating the team, Morris for example made a huge difference, there is holes in quality here and there. But at the same time we should still be good enough to not continuously get embarrassed by bottom 3 teams, to not be worried about losing a game when we’re 3 goals ahead.

There is a lack of trust in the team and even if we go on a 5 game winning run everyone will still be wondering when the next implosion is coming.
