Second string has controlled the game without being overly threatening. Gilbert's looked bright and I quite like the look of McCabe. Hamilton has certainly bustled about and pressed well but still lacks any penetration and is so risk averse on the ball.

If you keep doing the same thing for 90 minutes any opponent with half a brain will work you out. Boro need to mix things up a bit to try and catch Rovers out.

Thought Mccabe has had some bright moments but its been a poor game

Law McCabe looks a lot more assured out there today, I thought he looked out of place in the other times I’ve seen him play for us. He’s been quite a bright spark for us, similar to how Hackney drives with the ball.

 

Engel has looked more confident out there as well. Doesn’t look like a liability which I really feel he was before his injury. 

 

Hamilton doesn’t look up to it at all, doesn’t try to beat his man at all and if a pass isn’t on just turns backwards. I’d really like to see us sign a new winger to replace Jones and loan out Hamilton.

Burgzorg is not the answer up top, his positioning is awful even when defending. We have no focal point and nobody pushing their line. 

I think McCabe has looked pretty good, he seems to try and play on the half turn. Gilbert has been decent, Burgzorg doesn't look like he can play up top on his own.
