No, they have been there since returning from injury last season . Came back in the summer with further injuries.

Club tried to offload him but only ipswich were keen until they found out about his injuries .

But he played a run of games just recently was my point.  He played 7 league games in a row between Boxing Day and the Preston game.  He played 90 mins in each.  He played on the 26th Dec, 29th Dec, 1st Jan, 4th Jan, that's four full games in 10 days.  Now he can't manage any games in 18 days but he can sit on the bench?

I think getting someone in now gives us a chance of maybe making the Play Offs just by having tactics that fit and then who knows, we just might make the Play Offs and actually win them.

The main benefit is that they would get a few months to work with and assess what he has at his disposal. Who he wants to keep, who is surplus to requirements and who he wants to bring in. Starting the season and spending the first half of it assessing the squad will just knock us back next season and we know what disappointing starts do to Boro in this league.

Alternatively Carrick may change tack and start producing some results but I'm not expecting Father Christmas coming down my chimney dressed in a Tutu and singing Abba's greatest hits anytime soon, however if I was a betting man my money would be on Santa.

Father Christmas has arrived. This is a rollover from the Christmas hangover. The advantage being Carrick has got the team playing like 11 Father Christmases.

100% it's true, but yeah it's extremely risky I agree .

I heard clarke pushed to leave.

Its not that he cant play 90minutes but he just wouldnt be able to do it on a consistent basis alongside training and recovery.

Hes had various operations but injuries keep recurring

The sports scientist worked for the club and play football with him.

There were literally articles and interviews a couple of weeks ago with him saying he’s fitter than ever and finally injury free. All a lie?

The lad's never been fully fit for more than a few weeks at a time. He's had more breakdowns than an Austin Allegro. There was even speculation on here that he was only on the bench as decoration rather than admit that the squad was weak in numbers at CB having sold Clarke.

Lol he's hardly going to say the opposite is he?

He loves the club and wants to play.

I think him and VDB are our best CB pairing.

Which does us no good whatsoever when our entire defense is terrible, and arguably weaker with him in it.

That's not what you said though, is it?

The tactics make us weak that's why Engel didn't last and even a decent experienced defender in Borges has been largely written off. They're all destined to fail

For everyone questioning why Edmondson is playing over Fry....He's crooked with various injuries and getting treatment outside the club to manage his injuries with a sports specialist.

As we have seen in the past, Coburn comes to mind, not fit but put on the bench to make up the numbers.

We have far too many players with on-going injuries
