GrimsbyBoro 2,365 3k
Good result especially with the back line. During the game it was never really in doubt. We were the better team through our barring the odd little spell. Rode our luck with their chance in the first half but other than that never thought we wouldn’t get the win. I’m not his biggest fan but well done to Howson. Played well and put himself on the line. other results seemed to go our way so all in all a good night.
Johnmfc81 944 2k
We did well given the circumstances, but was it a case of a poor team making us look better or were we actually better in general. For me the defence looked a bit better than usual, both Borges and Howson were organised and talking alot it seemed. I actually quite like Borges as a CB it seems to suit him better tbh.

Leadership is often not about shouting .Very little of the panicky heart in mouth moments last night. A half fit 36 year old playing out of position improving the side is a damning indication of how messed up our recruitment has been. Lets hope he stays fit now. Im a massive Howson fan, a true professional & feel this team really misses him when he's not involved, which at 36 is a big concern going forward, he just strilled through the game I imagine he'll be feeling a little friagile this morning, aching & needing plenty of rest to play again the weekend
Blanco 5,581 7.2k
Delighted with the result and credit to the players for just getting on with it and not bemoaning their luck. Howson deserves a special mention considering he was not fit enough to start according to Carrick. He put in a true Captain’s performance 👏

We probably played better because QPR were absolutely woeful, same as in the Stoke game. It's easier to look solid defensively when they're barely attacking, but they still missed an absolute sitter, scored and nearly equalised through their keeper at the death. That's still largely fine considering how most of our backline were played out of position, and Howson in particular did brilliantly considering he was playing with one leg hanging, but I don't think it was a defensive masterclass. I'm not sure if it's changed in the last month, but we'd given up some of the fewest shots on our goal all season, regardless of who's playing in defence, so we've always limited chances, it's just teams seemed to regularly score from the few they did get. We were wasteful, and deserved to win, plenty to improve on, we still have some tough opponent to come before the end of the season. But we've got two more rubbish teams to play before then, so hopefully we can take advantage on Saturday, sneak in to the play-off positions and then wrap the squad members not getting called up in cotton wool over the international break. TLF10 5,418 7.1k
@TeaCider24. Yeah think carrick used “virtually impossible” about McGree taking part in internationals. Morris not called up by USA which hopefully allows him some rest. Conway in Scotland squad but their final game is Sunday 23 July so he has 6 days before Oxford all being well

DevKWat 2,944 2.9k
It’s 100% in our hands, I think we will come up short but hope I’m wrong. Next 2 (Luton A, Oxford H) are absolute must wins. After that it’s 50/50 games against rivals (Blackburn, Millwall, Sheff W, Norwich and Coventry)
Jooky85 173 99
We were chatting last night, if this were to be a season we made it into the playoffs and heaven forbid, ACTUALLY got promoted, I'd feel massively cheated out of a feel good enjoyable season. This has been anything but, and to go up would be underwhelming 😅 (not that you should turn your nose up at the chance, obviously). Anyway I don't think we will make the playoffs - we played half decent last night but the issue hasn't been turning in the odd half decent performance, the issue has been doing it consistently without stinking the place out in between. We'll drop too many points between now and Coventry, probably go into the Coventry game needing 3pts and some results to go our way, inevitably missing out because we lose to Coventry (stinking the place out) with other results going our way.
edinboro 1,430 2.2k
This reminds me of the season Derby robbed us under Pulis. We came really close but just missed out. The problem I have is that there is so much saying we will do it. Coventry last game - redemption Burnley in play offs - just scored more Either Mogga or Mackems at Wembley - it feels like something is written in the stars.
TeaCider24 17,814 22.9k
It would be very funny if we had a promotion when many fans have hated the season for long periods of it. I don't see it happening, but I'd love to see how we'd all reflect on the season and our reactions after that.

I haven’t enjoyed this season at all as we have inter changed from the sublime to the ridiculous on an almost weekly basis. Only won 3 in a row on one occasion. It couldn’t possibly happen….. could it? 🤷♂️
