Blackburn Rovers v Middlesbrough

Venky's Chickens v Gibson's Lions

Ewood Park

Friday, 4th April

KO: 20:00 (or 8pm if you're stupid and don't understand 24 hour clocks, duuuuhhhh)

Good morning (or Good evening if you're reading this at night, Good afternoon if you've just had your midday meal, or Good day if you're from the 18th century) and welcome to another super duper DZ matchday thread.

On Friday night (that's this Friday, not next Friday, unless you've travelled into the past to last Friday which in fact will make it NEXT Friday....where was I?) we travel across the Pennines to face a Blackburn Rovers side who have seen their form slide off a cliff quicker than a gannett in a wetsuit on a rainy day (just go with it.) Having lost their last four matches in a row they find themselves outside the playoffs in 11th but incredibly only 5 points away from 6th place.

Boro on the other hand, could amazingly leapfrog Coventry into 5th with a win on Friday night, and with Coventry playing Burnley on Saturday, may well end up above their playoff rivals when the weekend draws to a close. The Championship, eh?

We haven't beaten Blackburn Rovers since December 2022, when we won 2-1 at Ewood park with Marcus Forss and Riley McGree scoring. Neither will start this game. I would put a link to highlights of that match but then this thread would need to wait for mod approval. Similarly I'm not going to post a link to their forum talking about the game, if you're that bothered you can search for it yourself I'M NOT YOUR MAM OK

Talking points:

Starting lineup?

I've made a poll, but will we make the playoffs?

Assuming we make the playoffs, can we actually win them? (No.)

Which would you prefer to fight in unarmed combat, 10 chicken sized Lions or 1 lion sized Chicken? This question was originally 100 chicken sized lions but I realised that they'd tear the skin from your foot before you could even strike out at them (I'm going to assume you would use your foot as the fight would largely be ground based, given the size of the opponent.)

I haven't had a coffee yet.

Okay that's it for the thread go away now

Okay i'm posting a link to their forum because holy hell are they in total meltdown, only one poster at the time of posting this thinks they actually have a chance of getting anything from the game, despite their decent record against us:

I remember reading the exact same thread from Watford fans...

The hypothetical chicken is non-binary

As are the chicken sized lions.

In that case, having seen evidence of what a chicken-sized chicken can do in a fight, 1 Lion sized chicken is something I don't want to meet, Imagine samurai warriors and a brain smaller than a pea that just wants to fillet you...  where do you want the lions buried?

Wouldn't chicken sized lions just be an average sized cat? If so then I reckon that the majority of us would be able to fend off 10 cats and come away with a few scratches. However, I suspect that we would come off worse against a 30 Stone 4ft chicken if I was stupid enough to challenge it.....imagine a chicken that size......scary as feck!

2-0 Boro
