Millwall v Boro 1-0

Recommended Posts

I was always a big fan of Steve Gibson, but he has definitely lost his way, I just don't think he has a clue, and because of his history with the club he now takes the fans for granted. Definitely still dining out on the I saved the club scenario.

I look at the three B's Brentford, Brighton, Bournemouth, they're not bigger clubs than us, but what they have proven is that there are good managers out there who know what they're doing, and yes I'm totally bloody envious of them. Why is it that  Gibson is incapable of finding a coach/manager who knows what they're doing and who can get us out of this division, because Gibson's managerial choices are absolute garbage, and he is now holding this club back which is so frustrating and frankly shocking.

I hope he does sell, and at terms agreeable to him. He's done his bit for the club but we really need to break out of this inertia. I know you should be careful what you wish for but it's a given that all organisations decline given time. The club needs reinvigorating.

Do you think there would be much interest?

You can't rug pull Carrick by selling our best players each season to balance the books and replace them with mid-table players and expect to finish anywhere above mid-table.

It's Gibson that ultimately carries the can for this one.

We weren't even good before we sold Lath and Rogers

He will definitely be here... no way he gets sacked...

I would not be sure. We've come up short. This team is stagnating. We're devoid of ideas. Game management ? Poor. Ability to compete? Missing all too often. Intensity? Nowhere near good enough.

The team mirrors Carrick, his lack of progression is all too apparent.

He's a nice guy - nice guys aren't often winners as managers.

Bristol City sold their top striker (to us). Millwall sold their two star forwards, Flemming and Esse and replaced them with a loan of our third choice striker. Coventry lost their star #10 on a free. WBA spent 3 years paying nothing for players and lost their manager but still have somehow managed to end up above us. Sunderland lost their star winger and are so far above us we can hardly see them despite them having to make do with Aaron Connolly as a striker for half a season.

By comparison with these, Carrick is managing on easy street.

I think this is something that often gets ignored by those who like to use as an excuse.

We were struggling before they left, it's part of the reason they left so quickly.

Rogers might have left anyway, but there's no way that Latte Lath would have went to the MLS if it looked like there was a strong chance that we were getting promoted.

Agree about nice guys but with Eddie Howe being the exception.

Absolutely. We're one of the most desirable clubs for an investor in the championship. We have first class infrastructure, an expensive squad, no complicated debts, enviable PSR status but are underperforming on the field. A relatively small investment in football terms could pay back multiple times over. Not exactly a sleeping giant but definitely a larger than average sized person having a siesta.

Actually I do.  We have a very good fan base and a decent enough stadium although rather shabby and dated.  Teesside has a population of around 500000 so there is greater potential there. Our away support is excellent and those fans really deserve something better. Respect to them. I think we could attract a billionaire consortium or single owner. Yes I understand about the fair play rules but they would bring money into the club not just for players. It could bring about exciting times particularly for an area that is in sore need of lifting up.

Lets hope the players can raise their game against the mighty Plymouth and not be to much in awe of them.

In fairness to Plymouth I quite like them as a Club and if it helps their cause then Carrick can be a good egg and gift them some points, he's good at things like that.

Think of it as another Easter resurrection because it's the only miracle we are likely to witness under Carrick.

In fairness for this year we were clinging onto the top 6 with 44 points but it wasn't an amazing position by any means. Last year we were already 11th by the end of the window

Our second half to the season this year has been strikingly poor mind. 16 points from 13 games is it?
