I am always flabbergasted when fans try top decide that money isn't from Gibson if it comes from Bulkhaul or involves something to do with group tax from The Gibson O'Neill company, like its just imaginary money or HMRC are giving it to the group.

The Gibson O'Neill company is made up of 3 directors, at the very least its a third of Gibson's money or potential earnings which is being spent on the club

If he takes it from the group of companies, then he can set the Boro losses against Bulkhaul profits for tax.  So that means the UK tax payer is really paying  25% of the money pumped in (on basis that if the club was totally separate from Bulkhaul then the club losses wouldn’t get any tax relief.). SG owns 75% of group, so for £10m profit, there would be £7.5m after tax, of which SG would be able to take 75% as dividends - i.e. £5.625m. That suggests for each £1m he pumps in it actually hits his wallet by just over half.
Of course, that assumes the owner of the other 25% of shares (O’Neill?)! is also happy to contribute and the dividends aren’t skewed so that it is SG who actually pays all of the losses despite only owning 75% of Bulkhaul and the other companies.

The other laughable thing is that 'we've gone for the cheap option'.
I guarantee that of all the coaches in world football that would want to manage Boro, relatively, Rob Edwards is not 'the cheap option'.

But he's Scott's son though.

Told a Sunderland fan at work about the Beale rumours and he replied with “Thoughts and prayers my friend”.

Robbing you haven't paid a penny into the club for decades...

We will all be disregarding your comments... FOREVER 👍

You really haven't a clue have you Nobby? Stop showing yourself up.

Saw the Ben Bloom video about Rob Edwards coming here, and expected the negative comments to be spewing out soon as he put it up last night

He's a top fella Ben - lovely lad, has one of the better YouTube footy channels IMO and a fantastic musician to boot ... hell of a voice on him, plays in a Queen tribute band 😄

Anyway, wasn't Beale doing a better job at Sunderland than I recall, when they sacked him?? I thought he at least had a run where it looked to be working out alright, but I must be imagining things, clearly 😂

If he is to be an assistant, that sounds like a decent start with the coaching set-up

I am fine with the appointment of Rob Edwards. We, as fans, often forget how long we've been out of the top flight. Understandably, it will be hard to please everyone without a fancier, more decorated name coming in but it is just not realistic

As soon as I saw Carrick was done, I didn't expect it to be anyone else tbh.

I did get my hopes up thinking we'd possibly get hold of Cooper, but we all knew he was always going to be looking out for a bigger club if he's going back into management

Hopefully, we have a decent window, and you just never know do you

Fans have to get behind RE

Can you two stop replying to each other constantly bickering and having completely unfunny jabs at each other? Its incredibly boring for the rest of the forum, isn't relevant and clogs up an already clogged thread. Just put each other on ignore

Great answer, thankyou.

So yes, it's his money.

Beale tends to favour 4-3-3 I think?

It could be that we see his system being able to splice with Edwards tactics.

I said the same about Williams when he was rumoured, but an Edwards-Beale partnership leading the coaching team would be a good fit as their strengths together address each ones weaknesses.

We can be behind him and still be underwhelmed, if true about Beale I have a feeling we put the team together and wanted Carrick to head them up. He said no and we parted ways so now we’ve got someone else to head up this team.

Even fans of other teams are underwhelmed like ‘what why would they do that?’ And seen a few comments from both Watford and Luton fans that confirm my initial thoughts about Edwards.

It’s a brave plan for sure and I can see the logic behind it, let’s just hope it works out.

Interesting quote from Dom Shaw...

"Edwards is said to have impressed club officials with his extensive knowledge of Boro's squad, vision of how he wants his side to play and desire to get back in the dugout after the disappointing end to his time at Luton."

Every Manager and his Nan had extensive knowledge of our squad

Eh?  He was in the squad from the beginning of the season.  When you say last season do you mean 24/25 or 23/24?

That raises an important question.

When does a season stop being THIS season and start being LAST season? And when does NEXT season become THIS season.

I have started referring to 24/25 as LAST season, but 25/26 is still NEXT season. So for me, there is currently no THIS season.

Either fixture release day or when the window reopens, whichever you prefer

FANTASTIC question.

For me, fixture release day - when the club fixture page gets updated.

We're currently in no-mans land with no season.

If it is to be Edwards then I believe that supporters will not give him the breathing space of Carrick, he has to hit the ground running and recruit very wisely and cleverly.

This season getting out of the division will be even harder for Boro so unless SG and co have told Edwards he has the time to establish his own team patience from the fans will be a virtue.
