Agreed it’s a bit of a *** show and if there is any grumbling about lack of time to prepare for this upcoming season if thing are going so great then the know who to blame!!!

Pre-season doesn't start for 2 weeks, Edwards has clearly been the man for weeks on end now.

He'll have been in the thinking for a while, and I bet he'll already be involved in planning.

The official announcement taking place 12 hours later than Sheffield United's won't impact anthing.

I’m coming round to thinking this could be a good appointment. We’ve not gone for someone like Edwards before, Scott obviously likes him and thinks he can work with him, he was wanted by another team (who finished higher than us this season) and seems to have chosen us. He knows what he’s walking into and both he and Scott will be absolutely desperate to make work. And no more snails pace recycling the ball tactics

UTB!!!

This is a good point that I think is worth remembering. I’m not saying Bristol are the model club or anything but if he was as poor as some make out then he wouldn’t have had as many suitors as he did

If we can’t find a better rwb than Jones then there’s something seriously wrong with our recruitment.

Jones was a good wing back for us tbf.  I'm sure we'll be looking if indeed we are going to be using them.

Wingbacks can be fine ie look at Leverkusen they use one of them to sit back and the other basically plays as a right winger in build up

I don’t think people dispute that wingback systems can be good

They were all the rage for a long time but hopefully PSG’s annihilation of Inter is the beginning of their end

For me I just find them boring on and off the pitch, being linked to wingbacks and wide CBs bores me. I prefer being linked with, discussing and watching wingers, attacking midfielders, midfield generals

With 5 atb we know that a decent chunk of our budget will be going on the wingbacks necessary to make the system work cos they’re so vital and that’s just boring…to me anyways

You can use them in multiple different ways in the same way fullbacks in a 4 can, we like to control the middle so having wingbacks to hold the width could be way better for us in terms of creating space

Wingbacks works when you have world class players. We don’t. It’s going to be horrible to watch.

But of course they can work, it’s about the space they create such as wilders first year jones was amazing with with crooks and Dijksteel working as a triangle in build up, wingbacks can be effective in helping us have more space in the middle which we’ve been wanting for ages

I’d be a lot more worried if we signed a poor manager like Selles just to move quick. He got a lot of praise when he was an assistant in Denmark but I don’t think he’s good enough to be manager. SU will not be promoted with him.
