strange how sheff united can part with a manager via mutual consent and then hire a new manager in space of a few days, yet it takes Middlesbrough nearly 3 weeks from sacking one manager to appointing a new manager which still has not been announced, bit of shambles, Even spurs changed their manager quicker than us, seems all the time it takes ages to do anything, the communication from the club can be an utterly terrible at times

It’s obviously Edwards so why does it matter when it gets announced. Don’t see how it is a ‘shambles’

Is it really a bit of a shambles? I’d be more annoyed if we knee jerked and just got someone in rapid without due process of the review

The club are taking their time but honestly what’s the rush? 🤣🤣

Id rather take more time getting the right man in than rushing for the sake of having someone in early who is the wrong fit

it was unexpected Carrick left and I think we’ve done a good job doing it as quick as we have but I know that’s praising the club which some aren’t fond of 😝

Another one who would be up in arms if we'd announced Edwards immediately after sacking Carrick because we'd rushed it.

Just a straight up no win situation with Boro fans.

Wilders sacking was rumoured for ages, undoubtedly they were already negotiating behind the scenes - and their owners apparently wanted rid of Wilder ages ago to replace with their choice.  Spurs had one target, costing 10 million quid.

Hardly the same situation.

Seriously..  Why do we have to gauge ourselves against other clubs.

Du-diligence and all that is important when making an appointment in any business, I don't get this 'we have to do things quickly' mentality from so many people.

I think there would be a hell of a lot more questions asked if we'd had the season we'd had and then appointed someone within days of sacking Carrick. I actually think it's quite refreshing and diligent that we've gone through a process. I'm hoping the process has identified and addressed all the issues we've suffered in the past few seasons.

All announcements get drip fed through the Gazette and Echo, it just how the club operate.

Be nice for it to be over and fully confirmed but today, tomorrow or next week doesn't matter really we know what's happening and have done for a while.

As long as Edwards knows it's him, and the club know it's him, and they can start whatever planning they need to do, making the announcement to the fans really doesn't matter.

Totally agree

Really don't understand this mad rush that some are in, then criticising the club for taking the due time. I guess there'd be criticism it was knee jerk if we did a Shef Utd. I get some are feeling negative about Boro as a whole and want to jump on every opportunity. But if we are ever going to get anywhere then we need to get back to some positive unity. Some say that starts with Gibson. I think it starts with us. First job is going to be to get behind Edwards. Second get behind the team at the first game. Nobody enjoys going to a half empty, flat stadium...

And re hiring speed, If you look at the tfr mkt, not much going on re any quality. Scott still at the club so anything that we may be interested in but is happening with another interested party we'd still intervene to prevent missing out on top targets.

I believe we will be in a good place come August.

Re the argument about Carrick's signings being publicly criticised - that's because Giles and Nacho were dreadful. There's hope for SIJ and Whittaker under a manager who can actually manage, but Giles and Nacho? Forget about it.

Giles was absolutely superb for us at the start and is still only 25. I don't know what's going on with the lad but for me, I think what he's lost is his momentum. He needs to properly settle. He went to Luton and Doughty was better. He went to Hull which is a basket case and never seemed to want to be there. And he came back to us in the short term but Carrick seemed to hope he'd have an immediate impact on the back of the worst 18 months of his career, he gave up on him 5 minutes in.

If someone can grab hold of that potential and put it on the right path, I believe there's a player there. I don't think this is the right place for him but in the right team with the right manager, that lad will show his worth again before his career is done, I'm sure of it.

Wilder, Warnock and Pulis were all appointed within a day or two of their predecessors (in Warnock's case within hours of Woodgate), so obviously this isn't true. Like any other club, sometimes there's an obvious, pre-meditated replacement strategy, sometimes a bit more of a process is needed.
