Kieran Scott is away in Italy tbf so probably wait till he gets back for the press conference

Maybe Italy is just a cover.

Doriva's last job was in Albania, just across the Adriatic.....

Another one who would be up in arms if we'd announced Edwards immediately after sacking Carrick because we'd rushed it.

Just a straight up no win situation with Boro fans.

Wilders sacking was rumoured for ages, undoubtedly they were already negotiating behind the scenes - and their owners apparently wanted rid of Wilder ages ago to replace with their choice.  Spurs had one target, costing 10 million quid.

Hardly the same situation.

The plan was to keep Calamity Carrick but that went pear shaped. Hence the shambolic situation, probably made worse because the preferred choice Cooper then turned Boro down. We'll never  know if anyone else other than Edwards was interviewed. I suspect not. Just a lot of dithering, and he still hasn't been officially announced. A very underwhelming outcome IMO.

The only speculation is how many other candidates if any were interviewed. The Carrick and Cooper info come from impeccable sources.

The voices in your head don't count as 'sources'

strange how sheff united can part with a manager via mutual consent and then hire a new manager in space of a few days, yet it takes Middlesbrough nearly 3 weeks from sacking one manager to appointing a new manager which still has not been announced, bit of shambles, Even spurs changed their manager quicker than us, seems all the time it takes ages to do anything, the communication from the club can be an utterly terrible at times

What aspect of it is strange?  Is it strange that they have appointed managers quickly? or is it strange that we have taken our time over the appointment?

I realise what you are getting at and want to find a way to berate the Boro in some way, but you can look at this another way..........

.......Maybe the clubs that you have mentioned have been a little hasty in their appointments? and we on the other hand have been cautious to ensure that we getting the right man for the job?.......I guess that time will tell and we will see who keeps their manager for longer!

Interesting what they said about Rohl.

sounded like to me he may have got the job if it wasn't for how awkward Sheff Wed are to deal with and it probably would of dragged on into pre season.

He may but I think it's important to say that's part of the process. The best manager is the best manager available at the time you need them. If you're interviewing candidates who put their names in the hat that you see value in but their situation is not even financially difficult but procedurally difficult, then you have to be willing to walk away from that.

And as Dom also says, similar to Cooper, there's a fundamental issue hiring a manager who might not even want to be here. Rohl wants a Bundesliga job, Cooper wants a Prem job or a job overseas. The manager before our previous one had that exact same problem and despite hiring mid-season, ended up entertaining the offer of a club in a perilous situation in the Premier League before the end of that season, just because they'd already made it there. That must echo strongly in Scott's mind.

It doesn't necessarily devalue Edwards ability to take this job if it's an easier decision to make due to concerns unrelated to their ability. We need a manager, we need to get started, we can't be faffing on with Chansiri all summer.

Giles was a young talent killed by Rob Edwards!!

I think it's a mix of issues. Giles was always a questionable player to have at a Premier League club like Luton. He's not a great defender and he would be asked to defend often. That and Alfie Doughty was already there, had been a part in their success already and adapted better to the challenge. I think he's one of those players that could really come out of their season in the Prem with his head held high.
