I imagine Gibson will have a proper meeting with him, that's how he seems to operate.

I don't think he's staying.

He is possibly reluctant in having to dismiss another Man Utd legend!

“We’re going with Carrick.”

He didn’t mention ‘next season’ in his tees interview until asked the question. Even then he danced around it a bit, I don’t think he will be here next week never mind next season.

There'll be big changes I'd imagine this summer. If Carrick somehow stays think there'll be an ultimatum to bring in an experienced head and perhaps remove his brother from the setup.

Whichever way you look at it, this season is a failure playoffs should have been the minimum requirement and we didn't achieve that despite all the favours other clubs gave us.

Recruitment will also be under scrutiny. That January window was a shocker and was almost an acceptance we weren't going up.

Personally hope it’s sorted sooner rather than later. Hopefully some point this week we either get an announcement he’s been sacked or a bit in the gazette saying Gibson is keeping him in charge. There’s no point letting it drag on all summer.

I’d have him gone this week and try to get a new manager in before the end of June at the latest to start the work for next season. Unless Gibson is 100% behind him, willing to back him big in the summer and see it through then there’s no point half arsing another rebuild only to sack him in October when we inevitably start badly again.

I’m not sure I really care any more tbh. I feel more apathy than anger towards the club. Kind of relieved the season is over so I don’t have to think about it or watch it for a few weeks at least. Carrick takes most the blame, I fully expected that performance and result. Tactically he’s doesn’t seem to have learnt anything and he doesn’t know how to change a game. His biggest problem is his personality and you can’t change that, he’s too laid back and that rubs off on the players, convinced that’s why we start slow and don’t start playing until we concede or why we are too soft, too weak and why we have dropped so many points from winning positions or conceded so many goals from mistakes. He has to go as does Woodgate.

BUT

I’m convinced we won’t ever be decent again. Some of that is the game now, look at the 3 promoted teams to the prem, the gulf is huge maybe even impossible to bridge now. Gibson saved the club nearly 40 years ago but for every decent decision he’s made since then he’s made 10 terrible ones. How can the squad be worse than it was when Carrick took over despite the money spent? How come we have to sign a left back every 6 months? We got over £40m for Rogers, Lath and Jones. No other team that had a genuine chance at promotion would have sold one of the best strikers in the division and put profit over promotion, could you honestly see Leeds doing that? It’s not as if we were even up against it ffp wise and had to do it. I doubt many teams have brought in as much money as us the last few years. Even then we knew Lath was going all Jan and replaced him with an expensive unfit loan. We take forever to do our business in the summer and usually have to sign half a team then wonder why by the time we gel we are already miles off the top two and have no chance of automatic. Replacing Danks with Carrick etc. We just constantly shoot our selves in the foot and make really bad decisions every year.

If I had to pick a manager then it would be Cooper, knows the league and plays a similar system even though it looks like yet again we need to sign half a team in the summer. A striker, center mid, probably 2 when the club inevitably wants to make a profit on Hackney, 2 wingers and as always at least one fullback. Suddenly that Lath money doesn’t seem to go very far.

I just don’t think any manager will succeed here. Stick with Carrick and you will get more of the same next year which is why I fully expect Gibson to do it.

I spent this afternoon gardening rather than paying any attention to the football, because I knew we'd play badly, lose and miss out on the top six.

I find it inconceivable that Carrick will survive such abysmal performances and results, but until the club issue a statement confirming the coaching staff are gone, I'm not wasting a penny of my money or a minute of my time following this club.

It's rather ominous that no announcement yet has been made by the club. Does it mean Carrick is staying or some sort of exit deal is being haggled over? Carrick has presided over a straight decline season after season. He's a poor manager end of.

Well it was an away game in Coventry. I would imagine they will want to sit down and have a discussion,  no matter what the plans are. I would also love to hear tonight that he was leaving but I don't think that is the way it's likely to happen.
