But Gibson gets overall say and with how much he backed him if he got play offs Gibson wouldn’t have let go

But he may have still wanted changes to back room staff if the report's are correct in what they're saying now.

Either way the squad overall isn't built well.

Need 1 keeper either starter or no2 to Brynn

Both left back's aren't good enough

Need a cb

Probably 2 right backs

2/3 CM's

Right wing

10 maybe?

St

I look at that list and say what have we been doing for 2 years to need that many incoming's

When did he back him so publicly?  And if he did then what does it matter if he missed out on the play offs or not?  Our goal is promotion, at least I assume it is.  If we'd finished 6th on 68 points, then lost in the play offs, I'd expect the club to view it as a failure not success.

After Watford when there was rumours in the sacking, echo and gazette posted multiple articles saying he has the complete support of Gibson, our goal was play offs as that was an improvement on the season before as we were never getting automatics

@Borodane what's Jess Thorup like.

It's not the ex-Norwich manager before anyone jumps in.

Boring as hell. Pragmatic and will get you results but it's not going to be exciting. I think he got sacked at Augsburg because they were in the bottom on almost all offensive stats. He wasn't sacked for the results but because of the dire football. THey only scored 35 goals in 34 games. I'd stay clear.

I'd much rather have the ex-norwich manager who is really talented albeit he needs to work on the defensive side a bit more 🙂

Schmidt now in betting at 8/1. On paper he is the stand out of names listed for me. Whether it's realistic or not is another matter.

Done a bit of reading on him and I’m fully on board with this one. Would be a major coup and agree with what @LinoJo3said the other day it would be like when Bielsa took over Leeds.

Scott has had multiple good windows and only one bad one 👍

Was January even a ‘bad one?’

At the time we needed a left back and Giles at the time was the best fit to unlock Carricks system.

Illing Jr would give us an outlet on the left and some pace and creativity

Travers was a class signing

Ihenacho was apparently championed by Carrick - that’s on him by all accounts and was terrible.

Lath going for big money wasn’t ideal, but we got money for him which can’t be sniffed at. If we were higher up, he might not have left.

Edmundson on a permanent was Carricks decision and letting Clarke go was the same

Whittaker was signed but then not used by Carrick much anyway. But yes he didn’t perform as expected

so I feel like saying Scott had a bad window isn’t really true

With how highly Gibson rated carrick if he got play offs Gibson wouldn’t of sacked him

Not sure I agree. Senior officials saying that it’s like watching a film and knowing what’s happening for the first 10 mins isn’t a great endorsement. We might have got the play offs, but season ticket sales and attendances would still be down due to poor performances and it being booooring

I think that only a fool would write off any manager based on his stats alone.  I mean look at Le Bris at Sunderland for example, appreciated he had success at academy level but when he made the step up to Lorient first team he managed to finish 10th and then get them relegated from Ligue 1, with a win % of around 30%......Based on those stats there would be uproar on here if he was to be considered.

Good point.

There was uproar in Sunderland too, most of them were gutted and we were all laughing at them.

The squad is a shambles. We need a blinder of a window, otherwise any new manager is on a hiding to nothing.
