I could be wrong but I’m sure at forest green Edward’s was know for playing good football. Then he tried to do the same at Watford but can’t look too much into his time there.
then when he went to Luton they had there own way of playing and he just stuck to that instead of tried to change and it worked. That to me shows that he is willing to change the way he plays and not just stuck with one way of playing football.

Yeah he's flexible and can do both. Good trait.

Id love to know who gets interviewed, we might get 1 or 2 names but not all obviously. Also interested to see how many they interview.

Why? GVB was a failure at rangers

Rangers manager -68 matches ppm 2.01 - that is not failure .
I think he would be a great fit for us .

Philippe Clement - 2.09ppm

Michael Beale - 2.26

Giovanni Van Bronkhorst - 2.01

Steven Gerrard - 2.15

In fact, looking at managers who've been in charge of Rangers for more than 6 months (Murty being an elongated Caretaker) - only Pedro Caixinha does worse than GVB at 1.81ppm. Prior to that you have to go all the way back to 2007 and Paul Le Guen for a permeant Rangers manager with a lower ppm than GVB.

2ppm at Ibrox is a very, very poor record given how dire the league is.

Boro better get a move on then

Manager needed, coaching staff and a boat load of players in and out. No rush obviously in Boro heirachy's minds.

All reports say interviews start this week, tbh id be shocked if it’s not Edwards now with all the reporting and his connection to Scott and Jones

For all the bed wetters on here, we usually take 3-4 weeks to appoint a new manager. Wilder was a quick appointment after Warnock left. And obviously Warnock himself was a quick appointment after Woodgate was sacked

However usually it’s 3-4 weeks.

Carrick took exactly 3 weeks after Wilder was sacked.

Brentford, as just about the only example, would perhaps be the more accurate statement.  I'm sure they must have bought and sold players inside four years though.  Actually getting promotion probably helped a bit with the not having to sell as well.

Sorry but I can't have it that we are victims of our own success.  We've bought a lot of players, and sold two of them for good money.  That's all we've done.  And neither player was actually able to help the team to either win promotion or to even have a crack at it. Obviously Carrick has been deemed as solely to blame for that.

The only metric that matters is the team that's out on the pitch.  If that's never good enough then making loads of money in the transfer market isn't going to make us all feel better is it?  I did ask how long is long enough, and how much money spent is also enough, and you haven't yet answered.  Is there a time limit to this do you feel?  Is there a point where we've spent so much money that anything other than promotion would be failure.  I just mean in your mind is there a point where you'd say it's not working out so let's make a change?

I'm not sure we have a choice in terms of how we currently operate - the days of Gibson putting in his own money firstly isn't sustainable and secondly is hampered by PSR; the club has to make money in order to operate effectively, so I'm not sure what alternative there is to that?

So the issue of timescales is a moot one on my mind, it's an ever evolving and ongoing process, with an ambition that we will improve the squad incrementally and in turn our competitiveness.

Brentford are a conspicuous example of course, but all clubs do it to greater or lesser extents and with mixed success.

Brighton (who operate very similarly to Brentford, not surprising given their owners backgrounds), Forest, Bournemouth, even Newcastle are PL clubs that have had success in the same way, but you could point to any PL club (save for the really big clubs) and they all look to buy low and sell high.

That strategy means that not every player will fit that profile, you still need some academy players coming through, as you do some experience too, and not every signing will be a success.

Using Brentford as an example shows how many signings they have made that have never appeared for them, but that's the model.

We also have a very local example of this too, given Sunderland's success this season. They've signed lots of young players, have few from the academy and added a couple of experienced players and the blend has worked.

Perhaps a better time to judge the team and squad will be when the window shuts this summer - we already have some real quality at this level and I expect that we'll significantly add to that this summer.

From the Echo article they keep name checking 4 managers - Cooper, Rohl, O’Neil and Edwards.

You can definitely rule out O’Neil, Gibson is too stubborn and will hold that grudge against him, maybe even cooper as he doesn’t seem to want it based on all reports

Carrick didn’t want the Boro job to begin with either.

Carrick didn’t want it as he was unsure if he could make the step yet, cooper doesn’t want it as he’s with uefa and wants a prem move, for me carrick was easier to convince

On a positive note the Suns supercomputer has us finishing 20th next season 😂

It must have taken into account the fact that Gibson and Scott don't want promotion.
