Carrick, Woodgate et al have gone!

My concern is that whoever we appoint may not be able to bring the necessary players in. If the bulk of the existing misfits are all he has to work with then I think we could be in a real relegation fight. Hopefully Gibson will authorize some real spending. What sort of manager would be attracted to working with this bunch? Particularly if our better players have been sold on

It's obvious that a complete clear out is required. That includes the dross as well as the perpetually crocked. Whoever it is he as one hell of a lot of work to do.

Rangers manager -68 matches ppm 2.01 - that is not failure .
I think he would be a great fit for us .

He was a resounding failure at Ranges. Nobody can really dispute that.

We definitely need to bring players in, but I wouldn’t go that far to suggest that ‘a complete clear out is required’. I think there’s many championship sides that would be happier with our squad, I think we are certainly a lot more attractive than you suggest to a prospective manager

I can’t see it, multiple reports saying he don’t want it, I presume his agent would have made it clear

Didn’t someone say this could just be a negotiation tactic I hope everyone who goes in for that interview says they want to bring in their own staff I’m sick of recruiting within every time a new manager comes in.

It's alright on paper until you consider the rare availability of players like McGree, Forss, Fry, and even VDB. Who knows what Lenihan and Bangura come back like.

Then there's the existing gaps (GK, RB, LB, CM, RW, CF). Plus high chance we sell our best player (and arguably our last remaining cash cow).

Recruitment have a herculean task turning this current squad into promotion challengers, in my opinion. Huge ask for the budget available.

He does not need to apply per se. If we want him, we ring him and ask him would you be interested in a chat.

And I know a lot of people on here think Gibson is a clown on here but i genuinely believe if Cooper is the avenue club wishes to pursue then Gibson will get him.

Cooper is not getting a PL job and despite media saying that's what he holding out for, i believe he has enough self awareness to realise that his best chance of a PL job is to take a team from championship there.

I can see any PL club who will want to take on Cooper at this moment in them.

If he wishes to manage abroad then that a different matter obviously

Yeah but to interview him he'd have to show an interest.. we are not just going to ring him and force him to interview..

Are you saying that the blame is with the quality of the squad we have, rather than the manager?

I'll look forward with great excitement and anticipation for those 35 minutes, and the 7 months R&R he'll need after.

Just watch Rioja.

But he does not need to APPLY for the job. That was your original point.
