I think people just see where next season is going already with the lack of ambition. In, probably, one of the strongest championships for a long time, it has never been more important to start the season well.

The vast majority of fans are already disillusioned and apathetic towards Carrick at the moment. So what is the point in keeping Carrick, starting the season poorly and sacking him in October, leaving us playing catch-up... again?

For the record, I dearly hope that I am proven wrong and Carrick and the team step up in September.

I really hope Im wrong & instead, he turns it around but honestly, for me, he was found out after 6 months, his one trick football is dire, old hat & next season, if we're lucky, we could equal last seasons10th place finish

Shows you don’t need an amazing squad to get promoted, just a manager that gets the most out of his players 👍🏽

I try to stay away if we are doing well, or if you are struggling marra, cos I don't want to wind people up. Friendly rivalry is healthy, but shouldn't stop me from wishing you well. Us, the

We’ll do well to finish top half. We have been fannying around for far too long now with ‘golden threads’ and ‘models’ and nicey nicey tippy tap rubbish. We are trying to pretty our way towards promotion instead of doing the fundamentals properly. As far as I’m concerned we are on a path towards being Stoke or QPR in the very near future.

As seasons go. Its been pretty brutal regarding local rivals. One wins a cup and likely to make the Champions League, 2 get promoted having done the double over us. The only consolation is Wilder missing out.

Fair play to Sunderland though. Itll be tough for them next year but heyho id take a tough season and 200million over where we are now.

They were probably behind us in quality going into this season and have managed to invest wisely without a mass overhaul. We 'strengthened' kept the star men and went backwards this season.

Without wishing to be contravercial or confrontational, I think that is part of the issue you have.

I looked at comments about how few of our team would get in to yours, and I thought I was watching a different game.

Your overall squad is just not what you thought it was.

We only brought Le Fee in really during the season, and has only cost us his wages.

It's not all Carricks fault marra.

You need better players, because man for man, your squad was nowhere near as strong as ours mate.

Our squad George is far from being anything to resemble strong, we are weak all over the field, as well as mentally. If we were playing Sheff Utd today we'd have buckled under the pressure, Sunderland done what they've been doing all season, fought for each other, a team united.

O'Nien for me gets so much undeserved stick, I actually think he has the heart of a lion & his aggression & fist pimps gets his team mates & crowd going. I thought defensively you'd struggle with him going off but nothing changed & when Sheff Utd got past the well marshalled defence the keeper was there to make saves

No offence intended with my post. But in the summer we finished 13 points ahead of you and several places. Id say given we didn't really lose anyone significant our respective squads going into the window we had a better squad. I will hold my hand up and probably did overrate our squad but the way we finished the season and the emergence of Lath, RvDB and a fully fit Hackney who had been a star of the Under 21s that in itself was full of big players.

I've not intended to criticise Sunderland but come the last game of last season I don't think many fans outside Sunderland had you destined for promotion this year. For me based on these things is why I stated I felt our squad was in a stronger position come the start of last summer. What happened after to me showed how you invested and managed your squad better than we did.

That's how I see it too. How are we finishing above the three relegated sides, Coventry, Bristol City, Sheff Utd. Birmingham and Wrexham have silly money to spend. Then you have underperformers like Norwich and Watford with better players and resources than us.

It's just grim mate. We either have a one in a hundred blinding transfer window or we get a one in a hundred coach who can make a sh*t squad more than the sum of its parts. My guess is we do neither.

Anyway... Congrats Sunlun and this season can eff off. I'm sure my attitude will change come August but this is where we are today.

None taken mate, and I agree with a lot of your comments.

Have a good summer lads, and you never know, you might pass us on the way up if we get dicked every week. 🤣

No chance of that if we keep MR that's football.

Congratulations Charlton, hopefully we dont revisit the record second division score draw 6-6 from 22/10/1960 at the Valley

The only 6-6 came between Araenal v Leicester 1930
