I honestly can't see past Coventry City, they looked fresh, quick & exciting against us, I know that isn't a good guide but they've done so well under Lampard, which I thought was poor move replacing hime with Robins but its worked out well. Sheff United have never won the playoffs either

🤔

Hopefully Coventry win them, purely because I'm so bloody sick of them always beating us 🤣

Anyone but Sunderland though, really (sorry @Georgewhitt!)

No you're not. 😉🤣

Hoping it's Coventry, though I expect it will be Sheffield United.

Neither would bother me, as long as it's not Sunderland.

It definitely won't be Bristol City.

Booooooooo. 😉😁

Le Bris had Sunderland's tactics and mentality bang on it tonight so they deserved the win - it's perfect play-off semi final first leg tactics when away from home. You can see how much their players believed in their tactics and had a controlled aggression in tackles. They sat behind the ball and exploited Coventry's space in behind with their pace up front so effectively on the counter-attack. If ever there was a match for Carrick to watch and see how effective tactical flexibility can be then it's that.

Jack Rudoni is pretty unstoppable when he's in the box to get his head onto high crosses like that from Sakamoto. When teams sit into a low block it's a vital tool to break opponents down. I hope we can sign and turn Hector Kyprianou in that sort of figure for us next season as we have very little threat to aim for from wide areas, We need far more variety to our attacking play so that would help us.

I think Sunderlands deserved victory showed how to defend, then press, so professionally, yes they scored two goals from rare break aways , regardless of the second being a mistake from Coventry, we on the other hand do a million passes to get to the halfway line, they get the ball, head down, pass it twenty yards & they're away, I would sooner watch a hard working team like the mackems, than our boring over passing, weak team

Eyup George. You've been quiet for a while.

Keeping your powder dry in case results went the other way? 😉

Anyway, allow me to be one of the few to say congrats. Your lads got it right on the day and look well set for the final. Still reckon you've got a helluva job to beat Sheffield with the form they're in, but best of luck. 👍

I would be so proud of the Boro if they put in a display like Sunderland did & TBH for me, its a toss of a coin between them & Sheff Utd, not much between them

Thanks mate.

Not really keeping powder dry, but didn't want to come on here acting the ars3 after the final day marra. Honestly wanted you to get in the play offs.

Hell of a long way to go, and still scratching my heed a bit, trying to figure out how the hell we won that last night.

Tuesdays ganna be interesting. 🤞

Good luck with it mate. I would probably prefer Coventry getting promoted overall but someone has to take Wilder down and if it has to be Sunderland then so be it. At least the Tyne-Wear derby would be back for a year. 😅

Let me tell you mate, it is fookin nerve wracking though.

Think the difference last night was Ballard and Onion at the back , Le Fee for his quality in mid, and 2 quality finishes.

Would like a bit more of the ball on Tuesday, if only to stop me having heart attack. 🤣
