chapattheback 27 104
Barrow have relocated their training base to Manchester, I hear, so as to attract players who don't fancy relocating to the far far north west. Now Yeovil Town have thought, that's a good idea and are moving their training to Bristol. The yeovil area may be attractive to seniors but young, lively, wealthy, professional footballers and their families will find Bristol much more appealing, so ytfc hope that this move will aid recruitment. They will travel to the Yeovil stadium for matches and probably not much else. Boro also have a bit of a location attraction problem with some players and families. I am sorry to ruffle any parochial feathers, but it is true. Where would you think is a better location for training for the ridiculously affluent professionals? Leeds, North London, Marbella, Paris? TeaCider24 18,313 23.4k
Exactly where it is right now. Barrow moved because their own facilities were *** and they couldn't afford to build better, so they're renting another club's. They haven't built anything. Likewise with Yeovil, their own facilities are low standard and they can't afford much, so they're using a college's facilities. Rockcliffe is by all accounts one of the best training grounds in the country, it's not even comparable. Edited June 16 by TeaCider24

Just stick with the way we do things now!

I was querying the actual global location when trying to attract wealthy quality players Rockliffe is ten minutes from Darlington train station and then two and a half hours to the heart of London, ten minutes from Teesside Airport and, via Amsterdam, the world. Newcastle and Leeds/Bradford are an hour away. The immediate surrounding area is picturesque and offers upmarket commuting areas like Harrogate or York on the doorstep. The only thing it lacks is an immediate Night Club and Theatre scene on the doorstep and even then there are Theatres in Sunderland, Darlington and Newcastle.

Nobby Barnes 807 1.4k
It should be moved to either Park End or Brambles Farm, both sound like they would be really nice 👍

I doubt anyone looks at signing for Middlesbrough and turns us down because we're just a small town in Yorkshire. The Rockliffe facilities are up there with the best in the country. There are loads of nice villages nearby, too - footballers plying their trade in Glasgow tend to end up moving to the affluent village of Bothwell which is well outside the city limits but has a lovely community feel, so they're not in a goldfish bowl. And there's a McLaren dealership just up the road in Hamilton. If footballers don't want to come to Teesside cos it's too far from the bars and clubs of a big city, they're not likely to be the sort of players you want at your club. Let them go to Millwall if that's their priority.
