Tbh, even if we had a crisis at LB...Engel isn't good enough. He's so poor.

I hope we do sign Targett, regardless of the league we're in as he'd either be a cracking #1 LB in the Championship or a good enough #2 LB in the PL.

Either way, Engels shouldn't be in our plans, unfortunately for him.

that sounds like an agent leak rather than our clubs, trying to generate some interest. So I wouldn't take it as him being fully written off as he was before still.

if it come from the echo i'd put some weight behind it. reading between the lines it sounds like they wanted to get him back on loan or bring the agreed option price down and we wouldn't bite.

they still have time to come back in for him (if they were calling our bluff).

1mil for a nearly 21 year old forward who has played 52 league games (mostly league 2)  and not scored a goal and has never had any youth International recognition despite being eligible for multiple countries.  

If ever there needed to be evidence that you're not a scout this is it!

Technically good and good in the air 

My problems with him have always been mental 

Was full of fear on the ball so didn’t fit a possession based team, would pass teammates into trouble because he was scared to hold the ball for more than a second and off the ball he didn’t have the mental strength to defend with the intensity needed, would make average players look sensational 

I think we’ll get rid and he’ll thrive in a fun league like the MLS where pressure doesn’t really exist

they might be trying to save some money and we have just let them back out, as they still possibly could make other offers for him, rare we ever take a first offer and time on everyones side. 

Rather him in the squad than Sammy if he wants to be here, and think you might get a cheap bite on sammy if put him up for sale, defs easily get him loaned out at the minimum

don't think carricks system helped any of the left backs tbh, and people were on his case, might not be as bad this time around for him with a fresh start. 

Be telling if he gets registered as if he does then that's his 2 teams for the season and we can't move him on.

I don't know I think Hellberg might improve him as a player and could be a good addition for the squad in terms of cover in the defence

I think we only really need two LBs. Of the four listed, I'd much prefer them to be Bangura (if he can stay fit) and Targett.

Engel has potential to be a decent player for us, and maybe Hellberg could get the best out of him. I think Borges has performed better for us on average, but ironically has a lower potential ceiling than Engel. We certainly don't need all four of them, or even three. We should have five CBs even if Lenihan never plays for us again, and if we're playing four at the back, one of the CBs could cover if both our 'proper' left-backs were out short-term.

we have plenty of time for him to work out if he any use or not if he training with us before we decide. but minute we register him as our squad we have to wait till summer to change our mind.

I'm not sure how the multiple squad registrations work if one is from another countries season and he goes back to the same league (different club) on the next season to MLS or different league starting a season that is not in line with ours. So it still may be possible for him to play for someone else in certain leagues.

Player may well come back and just say he would rather leave, if that first leak is from his agent, which reading between the lines I take it as his agent putting him in the shop window.

But that might just be just in case because there is uncertainty with him where he stands with us, so his agent is covering his bases.

we need to buy/loan another LB, its traditional every transfer window
