Computer / Laptop Help

I'm rubbish with working out what's good and what isn't when it comes to Computer / Laptop specs. I know the more RAM usually the better and that's about the extent of my knowledge. Hoping someone / multiple people on here have better knowledge than I and can maybe steer me in the right direction.

I'm upgrading my laptop (it's seen better days), was originally brought to just run basic Microsoft office apps and I managed to run a few games on it (It just about coped with a big FM game). But looking to get a bit more of a specific gaming Laptop now, something with at least 16gb/32gb of RAM, a solid processor and decent Graphics card (doesn't need to be top end). I am conscious of having one eye on getting something good enough for now and that it'll last at least 3/4 years in terms of system specs. Probably not looking to spend more than £1.8k.
