Boro v Stoke 0-0

Recommended Posts

A game of 2 halves. Despite the poor officiating we let Stoke back into the game. Some sloppy stuff throughout the 2nd half that we didnt learn from we were fortunate not to concede. Despite our frailties Stoke were there for the taking but we self sabotaged most of the opportunities we had in that 2nd half.

Sene and Hansen both looked handy when they came on. We also looked a great team in that 1st half we just didnt come out in the 2nd half.

Seriously Conway, so so poor. And has been for a while.

I really don’t see what he brings to the team apart from he works hard.

Doesn’t run behind, link play is poor, can’t dribble, can’t hold the ball up.

Can’t play the next game, massive reason our attack is so bad.

I'm not one to be overly critical of young players but Hackney annoyed me at times there, especially right at the end when the ball got away from him in the middle and he didn't even attempt to gather it back, letting the stoke player (who looked further away than he was was) get it and play a lovely pass into our box that tbh they should have scored from.

He was absolutely horrific and has been for a while. Him and Morris getting way, way too comfortable with their "best double act in the league", gone straight to their heads. Needs dropping for a game or two.

Thought we were fortunate to get a draw there. The passing in the final 3rd was bloody awful. Just invited Stoke to hit us on the break.
Then again. We probably wouldnt have been making a lot of those desperate looking balls if we had managed to put away some of the guilt edged chances we had in the first half.

Think Edwards got quite a bit wrong tonight with the subs seemed to unbalance us: I love Conway but he’s not a left winger and we lost control of the game, players seemed a bit confused about where they were supposed to be playing. Definitely lucky not to have lost that one.

Still unbeaten though, and Stoke are a really good side!

Hackney was very good first half

As was Morris

The amount of action they’re doing over 45 mins is more than what some other midfielders do in 2 full games

Can’t keep that intensity for 90

Quality drops when they’re shattered

Good first half terrible second. Actually thought the subs at the end should've been made earlier to try and regain some control.

Really missed Brittain.

Think Hansen and Strelec will really compliment each other, Hansen was by far our biggest threat in the end. Ref was terrible and think if we'd have got the first goal we would've ended up being comfortable.

We look like a team that is still recovering from illness, but are still picking up points, can't argue with 8 league games unbeaten. Defence really looking threadbare at the moment though!

One thing you cannot accuse Edwards of this season is not being proactive...

Bizarre.

We had to change formation because of injury to Brittain.

We know that illness was still running through the squad, Fry is just back from injury, we lost a sub within the first few minutes because of Edmundson getting hurt.

There weren't that many options.
