ah suck it up imo. if he's the best option to get us into the prem I couldn't give a *** at this stage tbh

I've seen nothing at all to indicate he is the best option, and he'd be a very unpopular appointment.

Unlike Edwards, he's not got a charming personality to make people get over the fact they didn't want him to begin with, so only results would work and there'd be no leeway.

Why would he be the best candidate?  I mean his record is pretty poor, I have no idea what it is about him that anyone thinks is that great?

I'm not sure he is the best candidate in footballing terms, but even if he were, Gibson knows we are in a crucial situation where the fanbase needs to be as united as possible. Appointing a manager who people are against from the off would be a very unwise move.

I'm not saying he is, but if he is then *** to it imo. bygones be bygones - we're all good christian folk here aren't we?

I haven't read the good book for a while, but I think it does say somewhere in Leviticus, "Thou shall not deliberately miss a relegation game to watch the golf". And if the baby Jesus thought that, we should all respect it.

In all seriousness, "let bygones be bygones" doesn't really wash with football fans. I wouldn't be enthusiastic about someone returning to the club who cared so little about us. It'd be like appointing Brad Guzan as our goalkeeping coach. Would you really have faith in him when the going got tough?

The Club can do without the media Circus plus we have enough issues in the area of our own without encouraging individuals who most of us wouldn't wish to come into contact with following him and his family up here.

You’re acting like you know his friends personally. He’s been the game nearly 25 years, they didn’t stop him becoming one the greatest players of his generation.

Well as good Christian folk we have long memories and revel in a good crucifixion from a few thousand years ago so if he applies in 4025 he might have a chance.

He's been on Monday Night Football a few times.

To make a comparison, a lot of people don't want Gerrard, which is fair enough so whatever.  But Gerrard has 1.16 points per game in the Premier League, and O'Neil has 1.03.  Hasenhuttl has 1.17 points per game in the Prem for example.  Obviously there is more to it than just that but I can't really see much that O'Neil has done that would make him stand out.

Think you need to do a little due diligence here on his family associations or maybe you already have and don't have a problem with certain fraternity.

Done plenty thanks. He’s played  for and managed some much bigger clubs than ours also captained our country, but he’s not right to manage the Boro because of family associates.

If the rumour of interviews is true I would expect the odds to start moving tomorrow. Someone associated with one or more the candidates will tell someone who will either leak it or put £10 on which will be enough to impact the odds.
