Players we’ve been linked with in the past all fit if promoted

Jack Clarke

Charlie hughes

Max arfsten

Pavel Sulc

We have a history for following up. Wouldn’t surprise me if we tried for these.

  • I hate to say it but Xhaka was such a great pick up by the mackems. He would've been ideal.

  • Two medicals booked in for week commencing 17th August.

  • Pretty standard NHS waiting times.

If we wanted a keeper if promoted, there should be a few seasons Prem ones available.

The likes of Trafford, Ramsey, and Kepa are 2nd choices at their clubs. With the relegations, Dubravka, Sa, and perhaps Sels could become available.

I'd love to see someone like Soucek or Nørgaard come in for the midfield.

There's a few good players becoming Free Agents too. Mika Marmol & Danilho Doekhi have been linked with everyone from Leeds to Bayern, so it'll be interesting to see where they go.

Would be funny if we could take Arokodare from wolves, he still gets decent ratings even in that team, *** massive aswell

Also Dubravka has a decent rep I think he would be a good option as 2nd choice if we went down the experienced route for sure

Can see us going back in for Charlie Cresswell if we got promoted. Have always seemed to be chasing him and seems to have really kicked on in France.

Wouldn’t he be about £25m? Big chunk on a defender!

That Belloumi maybe worth a look at Hull if they don’t get up aswell, I remember him looking really good even when we battered them. Bit of a gamble like

Yeah he was a thorn in our side but I’d prefer that femi azeez of Millwall with my fantasy head on.

Well break our transfer record a couple of times if we go up i reckon. I think 2 25mil players, a couple of loans, some 5-10mil signings and a couple of frees. It would surprise me if we spent less than 80mil or so if we go up. We tried to do it on the cheap last time and look where it got us.

I think if we go up we'll sign loads of Swedish players.

I agree, and Knowing me, Knowing you Kim will be like take all my Money Money Money and Gimme Gimme Gimme because I have a Dream and if Steve backs him The Winner Takes it All 🎶

So long as we’re not sending out an SOS mid season

If we go up, what I reckon it looks like is this.

Outgoings

Permanents. Dieng, Gilbert, Hamilton, Silvera, Lenihan, Edmundson, Bangura, Hansen, Sene
Loans out. McCabe, Castledine, Munroe, Strelec (depending on performances in final 16 games)

Re-signing/new contracts

Targett, Sarmiento, Ayling (18 months), Fry (if fit), Browne (if Sunderland agree minimal fee)

Remaining

1-11 - usual starters. 12-20 usual back-ups but at least 1/2 need to be good enough to be a usual starter. 21-25 back-ups to the back-ups

1-11. Malanda, Hackney, McGree (if fit)
12-20. Brynn, Brittain, Jones, Ayling, Targett, Morris, Browne, Whittaker, Conway,
21-25. Fry, Sarmiento, Strelec

How it looks 4-3-3

Hellberg has usually played with one orthodox striker so I don't see him keeping the 4-2-2-2 formation for the Premier league.

GK GK1/Brynn
RB RB1/Brittain
CB Malanda/CB2/Fry
CB CB1/Jones/Ayling
LB LB1/Targett
DM DM1/Morris/(Browne)
MF Hackney/MF2
AM AM1/(Browne/McGree/Sarmiento)/AM2
RW RW1/Whittaker
CF CF1/Conway/Strelec(or CF2)
LW/#10 McGree/LW2/Sarmiento

That means at least 8 new first choice starters (GK, RB, CB, LB, DM, AM, RW, CF) and around 4 more for depth (CB, MF, LW, AM2, CF2?). If Fry and McGree can't stay fit that means we need more. If Strelec doesn't impress in the final part of the season we need two new strikers rather than one.

Brittain, Targett, Jones, Morris, Whittaker, Browne and Conway all seem good enough as first choice if the usual first choice is missing for an extended period and some of them may actually step up. (I think Morris in particular may improve very quickly when playing with better players.)

Agree with the majority of that. I think i'd put Brittain in the 'good enough to start' category' though.

Morris too for me. His obvious flaws aside (shooting), he does a lot of things to a level above championship. Has the physical attributes and is good on the ball and an intelligent player positionally.

I'm split on Morris. I think it depends on if he can adapt quick enough. He has the skill set but i thought the Fulham game showed up some of the weaknesses he has in his game that will be exploited in a faster paced game.
